Breaking the System: Verizon SIM Swap Without Verizon’s Consent Leads to Massive $420K Crypto Theft

TLDR – A few weeks ago, I experienced a severe security breach with Verizon where my phone number was hijacked via a SIM swap, leading to the theft of $420,000 worth of cryptocurrency. Shockingly, Verizon’s systems showed no record of the swap being authorized — the hijacker did not have my PIN, password, security question, or apparently, anything that could be used to authorize the order. A successful swap occurred despite Verizon's claim that the order was rejected. Further complicating matters, Verizon's legal counsel claims the swap happened at an Apple Store, not through any action on my ..read more

New sim card isn't working?

I don't know if this is an issue someone in here can answer but.. I'll try my best to explain. I got a replacement phone which came with a new sim card. I put the new sim card in and my messages turned green and my contacts got messed up so I thought I would just put my old sim card in. When my old one was in, I didn't have a phone number at all. So, I went back to the new SIM card and still, I don't have a phone number. In my cellular data tab, I have cellular data but no phone number or personal hotspot. My friends are getting messages from my icloud instead of my phone number. I tried to s ..read more

Unlimited Ultimate and Plus - are they throttled or deprioritized at any point?

I'm on an old old unlimited data plan - "Nationwide Basic Plus Data & Text - 300" with "Email and Web Unlimited" add on - runs me about $104/month for a single line after all of the taxes. The only problem is I want tethering. pdanet doesn't work well on newer versions of Android. It looks like if I switch to Unlimited Ultimate and bring my own phone I can do it at $75/mo or $70/mo plus fees for the two plans. Do these plans do data throttling/deprioritization after a certain amount of usage? If so how much data before they might deprioritize? submitted by /u/ilikejollyranchers [visit re ..read more

Getting $50/mo account back up to 200 Mbps speed?

I have Verizon Home 5G (the regular $50/mo one). I signed up in early 2023 and I used to get over 200 Mbps in off peak times. To cut a long story short I had to get a new router and a new Home 5G line/phone number (The old line was corrupted in their system and the old router was broken). The new router is the exact same model as the old one and it is installed in the exact same place, but now I can get no more than 100 Mbps, which sucks. (I might as well just get Comcast) Has anyone had the same issue (I have read some other posts here), but more importantly has anyone had any luck getting t ..read more

Pixel 7 pro no service

I recently moved to a new city and my pixel 7 pro has not had good service since the move. I have looked up the service maps and put my address into the Verizon website and everything says I should have great service. My phone says "emergency calls only" and "no service" in the right top. When I try to call it says "mobile network not available". When I try to text, the text box is gone and says "please enter a SIM card to continue". I have a physical SIM card in the phone. The same card since I bought it in 2021. The Verizon troubleshooting had me take it out and put it back in. It did not f ..read more

Disconnected phone and adding to new line with new sim

So long story short my awful ex has allowed our lines to be disconnected for non payment. He gave me permission to keep this phone since I’ve paid for it thus far. I don’t have the money for a new phone so I was hoping to just bring this phone into Verizon and hook it up to a new line on my own plans. But can I do so without it being paid off? I have zero access to the old account. It looks like a new sim would be available with a new line and the old one with the old plan/number would have the option to be deleted. Please give me some feedback. Im clueless to this but I need a phone as a mot ..read more

Hello! Just would like a small bit of advice. I owe $689 for a previous home service bill from 2020 due to Covid. I have had cell service through them for about 10 years. So my question is if I call them and offer less than what is owed, would I be able to get home services with them later this year? Thank you! submitted by /u/Sinfullysweet90 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

SMB Account manager job

I have recently interviewed for a role with Verizon. I worked for Att for 6 years in retail sales and left back in November to do insurance. I understand retail telecom pretty well. I made summit at Att two years in a row. I sold final expense insurance for a bit but talking about death and the chargebacks made it uninteresting to me. I was recently scouted on LinkedIn for the smb account manager role and was curious to see if anyone does it? What does your job consist of? Do you enjoy it? What are the challenges you face? I just completed my first interview and was told 80k was on the low en ..read more
