When you suffer an injury your first thoughts, if no broken bones, may well lead to ice, rest, compress and elevate the affected area. People have for ages seen massage therapy as an effective means to assist the recovery of some kind of injury. I know full well from my own personal injuries and as an Integrated therapist that Massage Therapy can have tremendous benefits for those who have suffered an injury. However, I also know many thousands of clients to date whom are aware of that fact that Massage Therapy can equally be helpful in PREVENTING injuries from occurring at all. I practice wha ..read more

On a personal note, I can honestly vouch for massage alleviating the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Both of which are very common mental health issues in todays’ rat race society! When I suffered ‘reactive depression’ over 12 years ago now, I turned to holistic therapy to help me to overcome the ‘black dog’, anxiety and my incessant insomnia. Regular massage therapy helped to create a sense of mental and physical relaxation that my body, mind and soul needed to heal itself. If you could help yourself via massage to reduce anxiety, feel relaxed and to enhance your mood, would you not simpl ..read more

Being a woman myself and seeing many of my friends experiencing the changes of menopause, we at Purple Freesia understand that this is a time for regeneration and transformation. Before menopause starts, periods start to become irregular. These are either longer or shorter in duration and/or lighter or heavier in flow. During the transition into menopause, a woman may experience hot flushes lasting from 30 seconds to over 10 minutes at a time. Hot flushes can last for 1-2 years. Did you know?……. that a study conducted in 2018 found that foot reflexology was effective in decreasing blood corti ..read more

Whenever the body is out of ‘balance’ it can be due to an imbalance in the ‘mind, body, soul’ connection or the fact that the eight body systems are out of kilter. At times our body systems can be out of whack due to stress and trauma. As a result they can cause us to feel ‘anxious’ and not sure of ‘self’. I often advise my life coaching clients, that it’s ok not to be ok! When you are feeling out of sorts, the best thing to do is to recognise it and to formulate a plan of action so not to be so anxious. The rare times that anxiety strikes me, my ‘go to’ is a good bedtime routine, regular Refl ..read more

5 Health Benefits Of Seniors Massage Therapy
Purple Freesia Blog
by Lynne Snook

I am a firm believer in the ‘power of human touch’ to help heal and to ‘connect’ to one another. Everyone needs ‘touch’ and to feel affirmed, especially the seniors in all our lives. As the years pass, the body ages and is more in need of care and kind. We forget that our bodies are the vessels carrying our souls and that they need to be looked after. Seniors would really benefit from massage, from a ‘touch’ point of view, as they may not have family members still alive or someone to have their back. This could be their one ‘lifeline’ to having the company and care they crave and deserve to ha ..read more

Time is precious in life and even more so when it relates to ones health. After all, my dear mother always instilled in me that “Good health is true Wealth” and I stand by this. The clients whom I serve to become ‘pain free’ and balanced, in mind, body and soul, know that this is one of my daily mantras. So RECOVERY time after an event, and especially after an injury, is super important for the body systems to regain their ability to work in sync and efficiently one more. Soft tissue injuries (STI’s) occur when muscles, tendons or ligaments are either overused or traumatised. On a daily basis ..read more

How can sports massage complement other therapies?
Purple Freesia Blog

Sports massage is so good for relieving muscle tension and to address many muscular injuries and or imbalances. It can be a great aid. It is used in a complementary role to other therapies such as physiotherapy and osteopathy. Sports massage can greatly increase recovery. Sports and remedial massage therapy combines muscular work with rehabilitation to combine two treatment types – Sports massage and Physiotherapy. This is one of the main reasons I trained in and have provided Sports and Remedial sessions for over 15 years to date! Sports massage can really complement other therapies, when use ..read more
