Aaron and I headed for a short break in Herefordshire this week to visit some apple orchards and open spaces in all of their Autumn glory. Herefordshire is renowned for its cider, and we were lucky enough to experience the full journey from field to bottle. If you’d like to follow our route, I have included all stops and maps below. You can find more suggested visits, and maps of the ‘cider circuits’ on the Apples for Autumn website. This post is sponsored by Visit Herefordshire. All images, words and opinions are my own. Where we stayed We stayed for two nights in The Cob at Montpelier. The C ..read more

Autumn in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley

This weekend, Aaron and I went ‘Leaf Peeping’ in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Leaf Peeping means to travel with the changing of the seasons in mind. It’s a new term to me, but a concept we are very familiar with. Being an Instagrammer/photographer my work is pretty much governed by chasing the seasons, and Autumn is one of the most spectacular! We visited on the earlier side of Autumn, which means there is still plenty of time to catch the glorious warm colours if you want to follow in our footsteps. You can also check out the tourism association’s guide to Leaf Peeping for some more ide ..read more

Chateaux of the Loire Valley

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you’ll know that I recently bought a campervan in the hope of visiting France this Summer. You’ll also know that we’ve had a fair number of hurdles getting the van going, and have yet to conquer them all. We decided to head to France regardless, as I had my heart so set on going. Instead of driving, we embarked on a Loire Valley tour with Paris City Vision, which meant the trip was more relaxing and informative than if we’d tried to take ourselves. The trip covered six Loire Valley chateaux in two days. It was intense, but totally magical. Day one C ..read more

Tracing Da Vinci’s Less Known Footsteps in Amboise

You don’t have to be an art aficionado to recognise the name Leonardo da Vinci. Born on April 15, 1452, Da Vinci is credited as one of the leading artists of the Italian Renaissance. While he is known to be behind some of the most brilliant works of art, like The Last Supper and the Vitruvian Man, his magnum opus remains to be none other than the iconic Mona Lisa. Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘Vitruvian Man’ It has been several centuries since his death, but his art continues to live on. Beyond his paint brush, da Vinci wore many hats fit for a well-rounded Renaissance man: He was a sculptor, inventor ..read more

Rosie Hardy Photo Retreat

If you have yet to discover Rosie Hardy, she is a wedding and conceptual photographer and influencer from the Peak District. She has a fairytale-esque style with dark and earthy tones, and she is a boss when it comes to visual storytelling. There’s no point in me trying to describe her style, when her work says it so much better than I ever could. I was watching her Instagram stories a few months back. She announced that she was launching a series of workshops throughout 2018, following a successful series last year. I didn’t think twice. It was a ‘shut-up-and-take-my-money’ kinda situation. A Break in the Malvern Hills
Monalogue | UK Lifestyle & Travel Blog

Although it’s only an hour or so away, I haven’t ever visited the Malvern Hills. Colwall Park hotel got in touch and asked if Aaron and I would like to visit for a few days and to try their newly refurbished restaurant. Naturally I looked up their menu, which influenced my reply as a definite yes. The Malvern Hills are an area of outstanding natural beauty, in which typically visitors would plan walking holidays. Our visit was a little different. Both Aaron and I had been snowed under during the previous few weeks. He has been finishing second year of university, and I’ve been here, there and ..read more

The Best Cherry Blossom in the UK

I seem to have taken an unplanned three month break from blogging. I think it’s mainly because Instagram has been taking up so much time. I wanted to share some photos from our recent trip to Harrogate, though. We drove there to see and photograph the beautiful blossom tunnels on The Stray. When to visit These photos were taken in the second week of May, which is super late for cherry blossom. The blossoms were so late because we’d had so much snow this Spring. The time at which they look best will depend on the weather in the previous few months. Usually you can expect the blossoms to look be ..read more

I’ve actually only ever had afternoon tea once. I feel like that’s pretty shameful, especially as it was earlier this year. I vowed after that tea that I was going to do it again. And, as though in perfect timing, Heartfelt Vintage got in touch and invited Aaron and I to visit. Heartfelt Vintage is a beautiful little shop on Alma Vale Road, Bristol. They offer afternoon tea and parties, and they have lovely vintage fashion and vintage wedding dresses for sale. Heartfelt Vintage is owned by husband and wife duo, Will and Kate. He bakes beautiful cakes and breads, and she helps future bride ..read more

Couple Photoshoot with Victoria Bonvicini

I find this time of year hardest in my line of work. There is a post-Christmas dip in Instagram campaigns. I suppose due to budgets being used on festive ads. The alternative is admin and general photography, but the weather can be gloomy and there aren’t many flowers and plants to photograph. I guess what I’m getting at is ‘I hate Winter’. So, it was awesome to find a DM from wedding and couple photographer, Victoria Bonvicini, inviting us to try something new. Victoria is from Nashville, Tennessee. Her work has a beautiful earthy feel to it, and her portraits are authentic and real. She had ..read more
