Could this be Queensland’s BEST free camp?? Notch Point is located in the Mackay Region, about 40 minutes South of Sarina. It is suitable for off road caravan,s and 4WD’s however if you have a semi off-road van with some clearance you’ll be right getting in. The track can get tight and there are a few large grooves in the track to navigate when getting into Notch Point. You’ll first hit a gate and then the track to the campground took us about 20 minutes, but if you’re not towing you’ll be in much quicker. There is camping on the creek mouth and also over the hill where you’ll come out to t ..read more

Curtis Island is located in the Gladstone region off the Queensland Coast. It is accessible by private boat or ferry service through the Curtis Ferry Service which leaves from Gladstone Marina twice a day, five days a week. The ferry also services Facing Island and takes about an hour to arrive on Curtis Island. For us to take over our car and caravan it was $480 return. Costing is by the metre and persons going over to the island, therefore, every ferry fee will be different. On the Curtis Island Ferry. BIG LAP BUDGET Learn how much it will cost you to Travel Oz like us! One thing we can ..read more

It’s probably on your bucket list. The absolutely beautiful and untouched Daintree Rainforest in North Queensland. The Daintree and the more well known town, Cape Tribulation are where the rainforest meets the reef and it is truly spectacular. WHERE TO STAY? If you’re in a caravan, camper trailer, van or tent we recommend staying at Cape Trib Camping. Not only is it beachfront camping (but you can’t see the beach due to the rainforest), they do a mean pizza and a beautiful coffee. It is a fantastic campground and plenty of room for the kids to muck around. The also have some epic rope swings ..read more
