Memorial Park Goondiwindi
The Ode always brings a tear to my eye. ANZAC Day is a solemn reminder of all the lives lost and impacted by war. This year it also commemorates the 80th anniversary of D-Day in WWII and Army women serving overseas.
As we travel Australia, we see war memorialised in avenues of trees, swimming pools, gates, arches, cenotaphs, crosses, gardens, hospitals – even roads and bridges. More often, we see cenotaphs, obelisks or a “digger” statue, like this one from Goondiwindi, Queensland.
On April 25, Australians gather around them, to remember all who have fought for our ..read more

Welcome Dan and Nora!
Congratulations to Dan and Nora Gleeson, new owners of Trinity Islands Holiday Park! Travelling with the CAMPS guides from way back, they’ve found a special corner of Australia to call their own. Plus they are sharing it with all of us!
“Dan and I travelled around Australia with the kids (now adults) navigating from the back seat with Camps 4. Mary and George would check what services were available at different sites in our Camps 4 Book, Dan would ask if the region’s industry seemed likely to have suitable work,” Nora said.

Aslings Beach Pool, Eden
Never have I ever seen so many ocean pools in the one Aussie roadtrip, from Wollongong area to Eden. I don’t mean natural rock pools, but man-made swimming pools that meet the sea!
I had swim lessons at Snapper Rocks “baths”, next to Queensland’s most southerly Froggie Beach. You can only see remnants of it now. But in Queensland, these ocean pools are less common.
Can you believe, it is estimated there are over 70 of these along the NSW coast? As we travelled along the southeastern coast of Australia, we were keen to check them out. North to south, don’t expect a ..read more

Heatley talks campsites with radio and TV personality, The Duck and his Camping and Off Road Radio Show
Heatley explained how the new Camps Australia Wide App helps you get out and experience Australia. Plus how the business evolved since we bought it six years ago, how we use the books versus the app and why we don’t fight in the car anymore!
The Duck agreed, “The hard work has been done for people.” If you are scrambling to look for a campsite,” he says. “This app is free – and for fifty bucks you can get yourself a premium package – you can’t get a carton for that now! It w ..read more

It is huge news for our travellers – a book now button is available for NSW national park campsites directly from the Camps Australia Wide App.
Never has it been so easy to book a national park campsite. In addition, 400 caravan parks can be booked directly, and those numbers will grow weekly.
Please can you spread the word as you travel, to let farmstays, councils and other paid sites know it is a simple process for them to have travellers book direct via our app as well.

I can’t believe we travelled all the way to Bournda National Park and missed this beauty!
Wallagoot Gap in Bournda National Park is on the New South Wales’ Sapphire Coast.
Bermagui to Wonboyn is known as the Sapphire Coast – and is home to many gems of locations! This well hidden beach is only minutes from Tathra and Merimbula.
Wallagoot Gap is a 200 metre walk from Turingal Head Picnic Area (find the day use area in the CAMPS AUSTRALIA WIDE App). You’ll reach a timber platform and stairs down to the beach. Make sure you bring your camera, as you can see the views are sensationa ..read more
