The Breast Walk Ever has had some wonderful news coverage over the weekend in the both the Southern Echo and the Hampshire Chronicle. We are delighted to share the amazing fundraising efforts of Karen Hockey, the 2023 Ladies Captain at Nuneaton Golf Club, who raised a staggering £5,235.27 throughout 2023 to support Against Breast Cancer. Karen began her fundraising journey by organising the Annual Ladies Christmas Lunch with a gold, white and silver theme based on the nutcracker soldiers she purchased, and she was delighted when many of the ladies wanted to buy these to start the fundraising. The Take 30 campaign, which took place throughout January, saw our supporters took one small act each day, and pledged to raise £30 each. This was so that together they could make a big difference and contribute to research focussing on prevention, earlier detection, and improved therapies for secondary spread breast cancer. Laura Nichol and all of the team at Intelli-Park in High Wycombe recently held a heartwarming fundraiser throughout the week of Valentine’s Day to raise £100 for Against Breast Cancer’s research. The team celebrated Valentine’s Day, on the Wednesday, by wearing vibrant shades of red and pink. That was then followed by ‘random acts of Kindness Day’ on the Friday. The Eskdale Book Club held a Christmas fayre in December, raising a fantastic £392.84 for Against Breast Cancer. Charlotte Carlin founded the Eskdale Book Club in January 2021 to bring people together via Zoom during lockdown. Since being able to meet in person they now have up to 20 members who organise book sales and most recently a Christmas fayre at Eskdale Village Hall. Looking for some New Year inspiration? Let us take you back to warmer times when Philip Bergqvist, a former Trustee of Against Breast Cancer, and his intrepid family and friends took on a big challenge and raised over £12,000 in memory of his late wife Sarah. Phil, his children and various family friends ran or cycled the 60 kilometres from Dundee to Perth on what would have been Sarah’s 60th birthday. Zak before his sponsored haircut. A young man named Zak from Somerset recently showed his support to Against Breast Cancer, as well as a prostate cancer charity, by organising a sponsored haircut event in his village. After leaving school this year and after losing family members near and dear to breast cancer and prostate cancer, Zak decided he wanted to kindly raise money for both causes.
