That response from British Rowing in full British Rowing has responded to our article about the loss or hearing and tinnitus I sustained whilst on a British Rowing capsize course in June 2019. The response was made by British Rowing chair, Mark Davies by way of a video message to its members on his personal Twitter account. The response is both factually incorrect and bears little relation to the complaint. Some have commented that this broadcast reply was a somewhat curious and insensitive approach given the case involved a loss of hearing. Notwithstan ..read more

Why British Rowing gets a bad rap Following an accident sustained whilst on a British Rowing course in June I have had to walk away from rowing and WEROW, at least for the time being. A simple capsize drill in a swimming pool rendered me with an irreparably damaged cochlea. I am left with permanent hearing loss, excruciating tinnitus and severe mental health challenges.  After three years of building WEROW I wanted to re-orientate my efforts into community rowing for the 10 state schools in Reading. I found a location and put together the outline of a ..read more

The countdown is on for Regatta London 2019 It’s just under 9 weeks until Regatta London, a unique opportunity to paddle, row or canoe up to 14 miles of the Thames from Hammersmith to Greenwich, Old Royal Naval College. What makes this event even more special is that the Thames Barrier will be closed meaning there is no tide and as an added bonus the river will be closed to traffic. The event has been the long-held dream of three-time Olympic gold medallist Andrew Triggs Hodge. “Regatta London is the first event of its kind – the biggest opportunity there is to participate in, s ..read more

No finer love – the mother and son partnership that created the perfect Henley Royal Regatta winFor Canadian Matt Christie winning the Britannia Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta was the culmination of a project 15 years in the making. Having lost his father in 2015, the victory was as much a homage to an incredible partnership between mother and son as it was to athletic achievement. The penultimate race of the day at Henley produced the kind of “locals versus visitors” race that we all love. The final of the Britannia Challenge Cup for club coxed fours saw Molesey Boat Club ..read more
