Hey UK Scrap Addicts, Keighley here sharing my layout using recycled elements not designed with scrapbooking in mind. Occasionally I will save tags and ribbon off clothing, nice packaging, gift wrap, gift bags or cards to possibly use on a scrapbooking layout.  I decided that this months layout was the perfect opportunity to use some of these supplies I’ve saved.  I pulled out some tags off some of my sons clothing and some ribbon that was wrapped around some PJs. These where perfect for documenting my sons love of Playstation and I had the perfect photo to go with.  Chec ..read more

Hello Crafters, Jackie here with my layout using a product that not necessary a scrapbooking product. My original plan was to use a recycled envelope, but then I found this greeting cards, so not fully recyclable but something that wasn't intended for a scrapbooking page.   The layouts is basic, using patterned paper as my base and a 5 inch strip of patterned paper across the middle my page. The photographs where take on my last girlie holiday in 2017 with my lifelong friends, so I used a summer theme papers, which are nice and bright and represented our holiday in Spain.  Bu ..read more

Hi - Karen here with my page for this month's challenge, which is to use recycled elements on your project.  I think I have taken this to the extreme! On this page I have used a piece of a white pizza box cut to 12 x 12 for my background, tearing some areas to reveal the brown corrugated card beneath.  I have also used tissue that Christmas presents and craft orders were wrapped in to make tissue paper flowers (details on my process video).  White card from the packaging of a new pair of shoes, cut into leaves with my BigShot and dies.  I made a shaker out of a tag ..read more

I love nothing better than ‘random’ things on my layouts, so when I saw this months’ theme to use recycled elements, I knew it was right up my street! Having looked through my stash to find some recycled elements that inspired me, the most random items I could find were a 7” vinyl record and an old Mac keyboard.   I desperately wanted to use the record, but I wasn’t feeling it, so I moved on to the keyboard pieces and was fully intending to scrap a photo of a young child with an ABC theme. I then got distracted by the fabulous Simple Stories Vintage Great Escapes collection, and decide ..read more

Hi there UK Scrap Addicts, Sheena here again x Our first challenge for you in 2021 is to recycle something and use it on your layout. As well as scrapbooking I also do Project Life so for this I tend to hoard bits of ephemera like labels, business cards & tickets so I can incorporate them at a later date. Everyday Explorer. During a trip to Bristol at the end of the summer we used free maps provided by the hotel to navigate our way around this lovely city. At the end of the trip I picked up an extra couple 'just in case' I needed them. I managed to keep them relatively flat since th ..read more

Welcome to 2021 and my blogpost using up some of the many left-over Christmas elements from recent festivities.  For this months theme I have used Christmas gift tags as the basis for my page creating a layout on black cardstock. I really wanted to maintain the texture of the ribbon so I have tried not to flatten the gift tags too much. I re-used tissue paper from gifts too, to create layers behind my bramble fox title and photo.  I may have gone a little star crazy, using the whole pack of Bramble Fox perspectives as well as the tiny silver star table confetti that we had at o ..read more

Hey everyone - Happy New Year!!! I am first up today with my take on our new theme this month which is to use another item not originally intended for scrapbooking.  This could be items that would ordinarily end up in the recycling or something from around your home. There are no rules so please feel free to get as inventive as you like if you fancy joining in with this months theme.  I decided to make a mini album. Mini albums can be very time consuming but not when you use envelopes as the basis of your pages!! I have a tonne of envelopes hanging around and thought it would be g ..read more

Hi UK Scrap Addicts! It's Kirei here wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, I hope Santa has been good to you this year! I am sharing a layout for this month's fun challenge which was to use embossing folders on your layout, now I definitely hadn't used them for quite some time so was good to pull them out and have a play. I had this idea in my head to make some baubles and add different embossing details to each one before embellishing and I am really happy with the end result! I firstly drew the baubles and then cut them out before putting each shape through my Big Shot to embos ..read more

Hello, Karen here with my project for this month using Embossing Folders.    I used a technique I had taught in a class several years ago - embossing on coloured core card and sanding off the top layer to reveal the core colour.  I used a cardstock called Core'dination - it's  not as readily available as it was when I taught the class but I found similar card that had been dyed on both sides, resulting in the centre being slightly lighter in colour so alternatives are available.  I started by die cutting flowers and leaves and then run them through my Big Sho ..read more

Hi crafter, Jackie here with my layout for this months challenge, using embossing folders. When I rooted my embossing folders out and dusted them off, I wondered why I hadn’t been using them on my layouts recently, and they are lovely.   I used to love using them, but as trends come and go, this is one that as been put on the back burner, which is such a pity as I love the effect they give to patterned paper.  So having this challenge got me back to thinking about adding them to my layouts more often. Hey, Santa To start this layout I went through my embossing folders ..read more
