The historic city of Cadiz burst into life on the second day of celebrations as the crews of the Tall Ships fleet delivered a stunning Crew Parade ahead of the final Prize Giving Ceremony of The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano. With the sun once again shining across the city, the crews mustered in the early evening following a day of inter-crew sports, cultural activities and entertainment. After over 1,000 miles of sailing and visiting for cities in three countries, the final Host Port celebrations of The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano began today in Cadiz. With sunshine covering the southern Spanish city, the fleet began making their arrivals yesterday with Challenge Wales (UK), Fryderyk Chopin (Poland) and Vera Cruz (Portugal) some of the first to arrive. A Spectacular Parade and Prizes on Day Two in Lisbon

The second day of celebrations in Lisbon saw crowds descend upon the Terreiro do Paço see the customary Crew Parade and Prize Giving Ceremony.  In a departure from traditional Crew Parades, Lisbon saw crews complete two laps of the Terreiro do Paço (Praça do Comércio) in stead of following a route through the city. Following a stunning Cruise-in-Company leg along the Spanish and Portuguese coasts, the Tall Ships fleet made their triumphant return to Lisbon for the first time since 2016… There was a beautiful and sunny start to the morning in Lisbon, which saw the ships arrive early in spectacular fashion with Dar Mlodiziezy (Poland) being closely followed by Fryderyk Chopin (Poland), Capitan Miranda (Uruguay), Cuauhtemoc (Mexico) and Vera Cruz (Portugal). The second day of their stop in A Coruna saw the crews and trainees of The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano celebrate with a vibrant Crew Parade through the city and celebrations at the Prize Giving Ceremony follow Race One. Before the Parade, trainees took part in a number competitive sports activities and cultural activities, visiting local museums and galleries. A slightly overcast start to the morning did little to dampen the first day of celebrations in A Coruna. The day began as predicted with thick fog hanging over the port of Falmouth, bringing an ethereal atmosphere as ensigns were raised and disappeared from sight. The dockside was eerily quiet and still as many of the crews took advantage of an unscheduled rest-day while others took advantage of the additional time available for valuable training.  When the fog lifted Juan de Langara (Spain) and Maybe (UK) headed out for a short training session before returning to their berths.  The ships will now remain safely in their berths as ‘Storm Betty’ blows through this evening before early de ..read more

Today was a day of farewells and welcomes as some ships said goodbye to departing trainees who had delivered the ships to Falmouth, and hello to the new trainees who stepped on board their vessels for the first time in readiness to sail to A Coruna.
