Hi, I am trying to leave my apprenticeship midway through. My employer has agreed to keep me on in the same position regardless of whether I finish it or not. However, after telling the apprenticeship provider that I'm not finishing it, they have told me that they will be charged £1000+VAT and therefore they will charge my employer £1000+VAT. The apprenticeship provider has been useless since the start which is part of the reason I don't want to continue with it. Does anyone know what the charge is for and if they are allowed to pass it on to my employer? Is there any way to not pay it? subm ..read more

Hi all, I'm stuck. I'm really stuck, and I have no idea what to do. I am currently 19 years old, turning 20 this summer, and I had recently started a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, after a temporary job and 2 years in college. It took me quite some time to get to this position, but as of now, after 2 months of being employed under the company, I am really starting to believe that I have made a mistake. This isn't what I wanted to advance into, and definitely completely different to what I expected, but I don't know where to go. I want to get into computing and IT, something ..read more

First post but I’m struggling..I started a business admin apprenticeship in November and am feeling very lost. My training was brief and given by a coworker who is too busy to properly train me, I am just being given things to do with no explanation and getting criticised for getting it wrong. A coworker is just offloading his paperwork and order requests onto me which isn’t what I should be doing, but when I brought it up everyone laughed and said he was prone to doing that and to not accept further stuff, but he keeps doing it and I can’t really stand up to him.Additionally I am not getting ..read more

Hello all, I am desperately seeking the knowledge of a master flute maker, who will accept me as an apprentice and teach me how to craft northern plains indian style flutes. But cannot locate one anywhere I go. If anybody has heard of a flute maker who will pass on their knowledge, PLEASE tell me. I am dying to know. I have been searching for years. I look forwards to any help I can get. I pray there is someone who sees this close to/or in New Mexico. I also play the flutes I want to make rather well. So I can say I have a rather strong connection to the instrument. submitted by /u/Sha ..read more

Planning on going to Uni, boss is considering firing me for it

I’m planning on going to uni in September, put my application in for it on UCAS, the whole hog. Problem is I’m doing a 15 month apprenticeship which I started in June 2019, which I apparently won’t be finished doing until October at the earliest. My boss (who owns the apprenticeship company which is a total disaster) found out I’m planning on going to uni, and has told me that he will dismiss me immediately if I continue the application. Is this grounds of unfair dismissal or is he in the right? submitted by /u/ladyatlanta [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
