Photo by Lexington Herald-Leader First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM After losing the series to No. 10 Virginia over the weekend, Louisville (21-14, 7-8 ACC) will host their in-state rival, one of the best teams in the country on Tuesday night. Kentucky (30-5, 14-1 SEC) is playing as well as anyone, plowing their way through the SEC thus far, but the difficulty of their schedule increases significantly in the near future. The Wildcats, ranked 3rd in the country, have series with Arkansas (No. 2), Tennessee (No. 4), Vanderbilt (No. 13), and South Carolina (No. 20) remaining on their schedule. But ..read more

Saturday dawned like the first true day of printemps. (I know, too precious. But there are times when invocation of French is simply called for, the language is so resonant and lyrical. I gotta work the word for grapefruit in sometime soon.) My immediate thought when seeing the sun glowing through my window: It’s time to get back to the ballyard. I am a child of Willie, Mickey and the Duke. (As NY-centric as that may be. I mean, I recall asking my baseball-loving dad what the deal was when the Giants and Indians were in the ‘54 Series. Still very young I thought it was just the Dodgers and Ya ..read more

“We watching or nah???” – @OyyyeeeCorito86 Very recently I logged onto Twitter (I’ll never originally refer to the platform as X) expecting to find an update or two regarding UofL Basketball and the transfer portal. And, if I’m admitting a guilty pleasure, I was also curious as to what Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew had decided in reference to whether he would accept the vacant gig at the school 70 miles east of Louisville. I didn’t find much in the way of transfer portal updates. At my amusement I did quicky see some breaking news, however, announcing that Scott Drew would be staying in Waco ..read more

Where have you gone Trilly Donovan, a hoopaholic nation turns its lonely eyes to you? Donovan, this one, not the Bullish one who said no to the school down the road, is the fictitious nom de plume of one or more insiders who seem to be tapped in to every upcoming change in the landscape a day or two before it happens. Or doesn’t. Like Nolan Smith to the G League. Or, at least used to be. I am an unrecovered hoopaholic, who continues to need news in this depressing time right after Final Monday. Plus I need to take a break from handicapping the cubes, the quaint name for the daily time schedul ..read more

Photo by WKU Baseball The Cards resume ACC play Friday night against No. 11 Virginia Fresh off their best weekend of the season after sweeping No. 19 NC State, Louisville (20-12, 6-6 ACC) could not take advantage of 11 hits as they fell 3-2 in 10 innings to a WKU (22-11, 6-3 C-USA) team that is firing on all cylinders. The Hilltoppers took the series 2-1 from No. 8 Dallas Baptist over the weekend. In the first inning, Louisville loaded the bases but were unable to push a run across, which was a consistent theme for the evening as the Cards left 12 runners on base. Freshman Colton Hartman came ..read more
