The Fry Lie That Won’t Die Summary McDonald’s French Fries are NOT gluten free in the US. This is a fallacy that seems to rear it’s ugly head frequently in Facebook groups. One of the fries’ 19 (!) ingredients is Natural Beef Flavor, made from wheat. Not only that, McDonald’s announced the fries are fried in the same fryer as their new donut sticks. But even if a package is labeled gluten free, we have to dig further to determine the source of the oats used in the flour. Jules Shepard (aka GF Jules) has the perfect example. Kellogg’s has come out with an Eggo Waffle labeled Gluten Free on the box. However, the oats in the ingredient label don’t mention gluten free oats.
