Mulherin's Sons, and Momofuku.  In an effort to spread the word, Happy Valley Meat recently sent out a curated meat box filled with goodies like ground beef, LA-galbi cut short-ribs, meatballs, mushroom & beef sliders, and a 2lb cut of brisket. For those in the know, Korean Fried Chicken wings are all the rage these days. Typically twice fried, these wings don't seep out grease at first touch, the meat stays incredibly juicy, and there are often a variety of glazes. Relative newcomer to the Jefferson East area is Crunchik'n and I'm here to tell you that they've got the bomb "KFCs." What's the story behind co-owners Jon & Jen? Jon was a retiring theology professor and Jen had recently finished grad school. Jon convinced Jen to open up Crunchik'n and now they're providing that homemade touch, while executing to high-quality perfec ..read more

Pat's Pizza & Pasta South Street

If you've been as invested in the pizza landscape as I've been over the years (trust: many Friday & Saturday's spent ordering delivery), you've naturally seen some iteration of Pat's on the East Coast. And interestingly enough, the majority of these shops are family enterprises! The history extends back to the 1970s in Jersey, when three enterprising cousins began Pat's Pizza. As the family itself expanded, siblings and cousins became owners of separate branches, with each individual making it their own.  South Street was graced with a Pat's a little over a year ago and it's already bec ..read more

If you haven't been to Amada by now, you're missing out on a classic Jose Garces destination restaurant. Beyond being the long-standing bastions of tapas cuisine in the city, the kitchen's ability to execute on classic dishes, with a creative twist, keeps me coming back for more.  Clockwise from Top Right: Ensalada Verde, Pan con Tomate, Law of Desire Cocktail, Pastry Basket For brunch, the $27pp prix fixe is the way to go. Coffee or tea, along with a killer pastry basket is included. Think warm, flaky, buttery croissants and olive oil cake, paired with fig jam and whipped butter. I also e ..read more

Amada: Porcine Bites, Unreal Pernil Asado, & Bodegas Muga Wine

It's been awhile since I last posted about Amada, but when I heard about the unreal pork dishes on the menu, I had to stop by. One of the stalwarts from Iron Chef Jose Garces' restaurants, Amada consistently remains a popular tapas hot spot, nestled in Old City.  Clockwise from Top Right: Croquetas de Jamon, Jamon Iberico de Bellota, Cana de Cabra, Coca de Alcachofas flatbread, Champagne The wife (yes, I finally upgraded from GF!) and I started off with a champagne toast, which provided a nice effervescent acidity from the luxuriously rich and nutty Jamon Iberico de Bellota. Perfectly sli ..read more

As you might already be aware, the Moshulu recently underwent a renovation. It still remains the only restaurant in the world aboard a tall ship. And the food coming out of Chef Anthony Bonett's kitchen is still top notch. Clockwise from Right: Smoking Sazerac, Beet & Arugula Salad with Goat Cheese Croquette, Lobster Cocktail Whether it's at White Dog Cafe or at the Moshulu, you'll find me enjoying the Smoking Sazerac. Easily enjoyed with an earthy and well-seasoned beet & arugula salad that came with crispy, salty goat cheese croquettes. The lobster cocktail was a delicious decon ..read more

The historic Moshulu just completed a renovation! It still remains the only restaurant in the world aboard a tall ship. The renovation includes a large lobby bar, perfect for happy hour and welcoming guests. Barbara Balongue of Balongue Designs completed the new renovation. Luxurious, seafaring, and with plenty of maritime surprises, including a 69'' high Natural Beachwood fish light sculpture that hangs above the rich gold and marble Captain's Dining Table.  As an iconic Philly landmark, the Moshulu still offers the expansive views of the city skyline and waterfront a la carte din ..read more

Fogo de Chao is back at it with new summer menu items on offer! You'll find a Watermelon Feta salad and a Tomato Mozzarella salad, in addition to everything you'd normally find at the Market Table. And you can't neglect the myriad of meats, cut right at your table.  Clockwise from Right: Picanha | Market Table Items | Pao de Queijo, Smoke & Honey Cocktail New items include a succulent, crisp Grilled Pork Belly with Pineapple. Right up my alley. Like salty, gooey cheeses? Sample some of the Queijo Assado, a Brazilian-style cheese that's finished with spicy malagueta honey.  Clockwise from R ..read more
