Top ranking conservative scribe Jack Cashill offers a bold perspective and exuberance that's hard not to detect as the legacy of 2020 racially-charged riots, civil unrest and "mostly peaceful" protest fades from memory.
This afternoon we drove by the Westport location and confirmed the aftermath . . .
However, Mr. Cashill's words speak more directly to the hearts & minds of conservative readers — Because he performed the journalism and on-the-scene reporting, he deserves the first word.
Here's an EXCEPTIONALLY strong #TBT analogy and opening sentiments from Jack Cashill:

As local violence ramps up for Spring/Summer, today tragic video documents the worsening disaster.
From our perspective, the worst part about this clip is that the shooting interrupts youngsters at play on East side streets as parents & family carefully guide youngsters indoors whilst gunfire rings out.
Here's the social media testimony and a link to the clip and more reporting . . .

Full disclosure . . .
Our www.TonysKansasCity.com blog community has never been fond of Council Dude Eric Bunch for a lot of reasons but mostly because he consistently hides from his constituents and is notorious for having the worst community contact skills on the Council.
In fairness . . . During his recent successful reelection bid, he acknowledged this major fault in his tenure and promised to reach out to voters more effectively.
And so . . .

Point of fact according to everybody AND ur mum . . .
KANSAS CITY DOESN'T NEED ANOTHER ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT!!!
And some place located near a bunch of restaurants and hipster bars might not be ideal.
Remember . . .
Redeveloping the West Bottoms has NEVER worked throughout the modern era.
This is probably the sixth major attempt to convince people to hang out by passing trains.
Again, as always, in fairness and apropos for #TBT . . . Here's a peek at the plan . . .

Here's a peek at the local biz class spinning scaled down parking lot improvements with nearby green space.
Question . . .
WHY ISN'T THE LOCAL HOMELESS CRISIS PART OF THE SOUTH LOOP & BARNEY ALLIS PARK DISCUSSION?!?!
We'll have to trust that 12th & Oak will be able to push the hobos into Northeast & Columbus Park because this plan seems local leaders haven't really taken much time to witness the condition of current parks in the area whilst building new facilities for open air hangouts for "unhoused" denizens in and around the urban core . . . Take a peek:

A couple things that casual Kansas City news readers might not remember for #TBT . . .
- Currently, there's a petition by Black leaders to cancel the guy's contract.
And then . . .
- This local news quote is probably also worth remembering . . . "Chris Hernandez, the former KCMO communications director, said the issues between him and Platt started on Jan. 3, 2022, during a meeting to discuss communications priorities for the upcoming year. During a discussion about how to handle local media, Hernandez alleges that Platt asked, 'Why can’t we just lie to the media?'"

He's one of our favorite not-so-fun facts told to us by tax fighters . . .
KCMO taxpayer subsidy for our embattled East side entertainment district as endured for longer than the jazz age.
In fact . . .
A recent slam dunk proposal would make it about 150 MILLION BUCKS for 18th & Vine since 1990.
Sadly . . .
A sustainable profit model is nowhere in sight.
Our downtown friends shouldn't get too salty about this topic . . . Kansas City's P&L District loses about 15 MILLION BUCKS a year.

Context . . .
In this history of this bloggy dump we've only called one local politico "corrupt" — That was former Mayor Funky and we'll do the same if any other elected official allows their spouse to prance around the office barefoot.
Back to the Golden Ghetto . . .
KANSAS CITY STAR NEWS HEADLINE REPORTING JOCO SHERIFF "LIED" IS A BIG DEAL BEYOND ELECTION POLITICS!!!
Why???
News headlines aren't supposed to offer a subjective appraisal. That's for op/ed . . . Which is actually more powerful and persuasive when done properly.
However . . .
