To start off with, I'm sharp but not extremely smart. I'm looking for a career thats more blue collared that I can eventually transition into white collar as I get older. I've always thought nuclear was neat since I was a kid, and i'd like to start in this career if it makes sense for my future. I've also been working with my family restaurant for 4 years and considered one of the most hardworking employees with good leadership and quick thinking skills, if that means anything on a future resume. I'm also pretty good with everything on computers and learn pretty quickly on them.

Curious as to what the training pipeline is like for an auxiliary operator? Is the classroom portion balls to the wall high tempo?

Also would candu reactors be cheaper to operate since heavy water is more expensive?(well i think it is) the thing that migh balance that out is the cheaper fuel.

Saw this in 'The Cult of the Atom' by Daniel Ford, 1982 (a book criticizing the lack of nuclear safety regulation, Three-Mile Island happened 3 years prior) and audibly laughed so hard I got a look from someone else at the library.

like if us ordered like 40-50 ap1000s. how many could be built every year since reactor pressure vessels would be a bottleneck?
and also, would it take a long time to increase production capacity of the pressure vessels if america was commited to a nuclear revival as quickly as possible?
