I’m so excited to be a part of this blog tour: as I was a member of the #SpindleSquad, I hold a special place in my heart for Lexa’s books. I loved Spindle Fire, so I knew I would love Winter Glass. Though it didn’t end how I would have liked…but that’s a big spoiler and I won’t reveal that. Anyhoo, onto the review!! Title: Winter Glass (Spindle Fire #2) Author: Lexa Hillyer Publisher: HarperTeen, 2018 (April 10) Genre: YA Fairy Tales, YA Fantasy, YA Retellings **I received a copy of this book from the author and/or publisher and my review is in no way affected or influenced by receipt of this ..read more

Hey all you! I am so happy to see the response from the post about Megan. I wanted to leave all your comments there and untouched because the post isn’t about me, it’s about Megan and how wonderful she was. So thank you all for the outpouring of love. I hope she knew we all loved her so much. It’s a new month, and according to the lying calendar, it’s supposed to be Spring. I got snow last night, and IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SPRING. But what can ya do? I have been on a huge Backlist reading kick. But I haven’t been sharing ANY reviews of the books I have read…so maybe it’s about time I review a fe ..read more

I normally don’t do posts like this…I have lots of book reviews to write and the rest of my ALAMW trip to tell…but I felt it necessary to share with you a person that was taken too soon. A person that was a good friend and that I will miss dearly. Her name was Megan. People also knew her as BookSlayerReads – she had a blog and Instagram and recently started a candle business that she was very excited about. She also had recently changed some of her names to FictionintheClouds. We formed a group awhile back for reading Harry Potter, and we (my friends Sammi, Tiff, and I) were very close. Title: Everless (Everless #1) Author: Sara Holland Publisher: HarperTeen, 2018 (Jan 2) Genre: YA Fantasy **I received a copy of this book from the author and/or publisher and my review is in no way affected or influenced by receipt of this book** This review can be found on my Blog, TeacherofYA’s Tumblr, or my Goodreads page My Review: I waited awhile after reading Everless to review it. It’s not because I didn’t enjoy the book because I did. It’s mainly because when a book is hyped, I want to see if it has “staying power.” You know when you read a book and you’re like, “Wow, that was cool!” A ..read more

I loved The Glass Arrow and it’s one of my favorite books, as underhyped as it is. She writes with a grace and a connection to the reader and I respect that. Her covers are always so amazing…Pacifica is no different and I wanted to read i ..read more

ALAMW 2018 – Part II (The Con)

So I know I’ve been crazy busy lately – if you aren’t on Twitter then you don’t know I was in a panicked flurry, trying to get all my books put away. They were mostly in stacks all over the house, but my mom was getting a refinance and I had to clean them up. There were a LOT of books. Books from the Con, books from trades, books from pubs, books from actual bookstores…. There were a lot. So I methodically put them (at first) in boxes and scanned them, into an app called LibraryThing to keep track since I couldn’t see them, until I got a genius idea: clear totes! So I went to Walmart and got s ..read more

Discussion: Expectations vs. Reality // Can Hype Ruin a Book?

This post talks about something dear to my heart – overhype. It’s something that drives me crazy bc there are so many books that don’t get the recognition they deserve! Write Through the Night A couple of weeks ago, I was talking with Teacher of YA (check out her blog it’s amazing) about how Select by Marit Weisenberg didn’t seem to get a lot of hype either before or after its release. Instead, it just sort of slid under the radar, despite it being a YA book that I think a lot of people would genuinely enjoy (even you, maybe! read the review here!).  that got me thinking. Had the ..read more

So I have been spending the last several days scanning books into my LibraryThing app…if you aren’t familiar with the app, it allows you to keep track of your books and trust me, I need something like that. I am STILL not done pulling all the books in from my car: I’m not bragging, but rather stating a fact. I brought home WAY TOO MANY BOOKS. Here is a pic of the car but you cannot tell because of the blanket in the way – there are suitcases under the totes and the car has a tailgate so the cargo is as high as the top of the tailgate. Ignore the salt on the car – the trip made it extremely di ..read more
