In this episode, Designing Worlds had a very special show – a tribute to LaPiscean Liberty, one of the leading proponents of machinima and the Arts in Second Life. Lap – as he was known – was a much-loved and important figure in the SL Arts and Machinima worlds. He ran the TV channels, Aview and SL Artists, and was one of the first people to work on ways to bring machinima showings into Second Life. He also ran Festivals such as the 48 Hour Film Festival. In this episode, we explore three of the different designs for the region of Infinite Spirit and the exciting 80 Days project, created by Camila Runo. We interview Camila who tells us about the creation of the 80 Days project: I recognized that here in SL it’s possible to build literally everything … from real places I visited in the past to fictive places I was only able to visit in my dreams before.
