We all know that the very best gifts come with great stories and with a Fair Trade gift, that’s exactly what you’ll get. Conscious consumerism is getting a lot more attention these days as shoppers have started to take a hard look at the often exploitative practices of cheaply made, mass produced products. As first world consumers living in a globalized economy, our choices can have a dynamic impact on people living in developing countries. Much of the mass produced products prevalent in the United States is manufactured in developing third world countries. Unfortunately, many of these produc ..read more

Friday November 17th 3:00 – 7:00 PM.     Once again, the United Church of Cloverdale is working with One World Fair Trade in Healdsburg to bring Fair Trade to Cloverdale. In the past, One World Fair Trade has donated 20% of the proceeds from the sale to UCC, which has turned those funds over to the Wallace House, for the benefit of those in their community who need housing assistance. This year, Wallace House has asked that such proceeds be re-directed to those who have become homeless as a result of the recent fires. The event will be hel ..read more

“All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my Angel Mother” -Abraham Lincoln One of the most inspiring things in the world of Fair Trade is the empowerment that I see in all aspects of the mission.  Starting with the artisans themselves, the empowerment that comes with the opportunity to provide for their families in their own right, and make decisions that will change their children’s lives and better their futures.  There is also empowerment in being part of a Fair Trade retail store, the responsibility of educating consumers and sharing the stories and methods behind the products is ..read more

Mother Daughter Style Like mother like daughter?  Not always a great thing when it comes to how we dress.  The term “mother daughter fashion” might bring to mind cringe inducing awkward family photos, or memories of being forced to wear something horribly unflattering because it matched.  This is exactly what I would picture before becoming a mom.  Now however, there is something in me that beams at the chance to coordinate with my daughter and it does make for a wonderful photo opportunity. With Mother’s Day fast approaching it’s the perfect time to take cheery f ..read more

What is Kantha Quilting? If you have walked into our shop it is quite likely you have heard word “Kantha”.  Maybe you heard “Kantha Blanket”, “Kantha Throw”, “Kantha Quilt”, ”Kantha Shawl” or even “Kantha Scarf”.  You might even recognize these colorful embroidered textiles but don’t really know how it got its name? The simplest explanation is:  Kantha is the ancient Indian art of embroidery.  But here is the deeper story:  ‘Kontha’ is a sanskrit word that literally translates to rags or patched cloth.  This is fitting because for centuries, women of Eastern Sout ..read more
