“The Unburnable Book” was sewn and bound by hand and made from a variety of fireproof materials that were put to the test with a torch, even left in a burning BBQ for half an hour.Owner of Gas Company Doug Laxdal claimed, “We make a lot of unusual projects,” but added, “We’ve never done anything fireproof before.” The Gas company has produced books with covers made of thin slabs of concrete and pages that change colour when exposed to UV light. In 1985 Margaret Atwood wrote a book that was so controversial it was banned by Portugal and Spain. It was banned by school boards for its graphic nature, and across libraries in the USA. Ever since release, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ has provoked controversy. Why is the book so ‘feared’? In the summer of 2020, Black Lives Matter protesters were marching in Central London, protesting police brutality in the US and across the world. One photographer, James Kemmenoe was on the ground for three days of the protests. He captured moments of anger, sadness and hope, highlighting the passion for the cause in those present. St Bride Library turns 125

  St Bride Library is the hub of typography, print and graphic design is planning, by the way of crowd funding, to digitise its collection to improve accessibility around the globe. Inspired by their 125th anniversary St Bride launched a fundraising campaign last year which they aim to “future-proof” its collection of typography, printing and graphic design.   Times New Arial is both a serif and sans-serif typeface. It’s whatever you need it to be for all kinds of displays.
