Hey friends!! I'm curious about which content creators you actually follow and like when it comes to bars and restaurants around the city? I feel like some are very promotional, which I don't believe in, but there are a few who actually create "honest" reviews. Do you have any favourites? I would love to check them out!! submitted by /u/seekingsomethinggr8 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Recommendations for wife's birthday lunch?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a restaurant to take my wife to for her birthday. We're not super picky with food but we definitely lean more toward Asian/South American/Caribbean food, and we love tasting menus. I'm finding a lot of the restaurants I'd like to take her to aren't open for lunch, which is a little disappointing (but understandable). Also, this doesn't have to be fine dining but I would like it to at least be somewhere kind of nice. Thanks! Edit: Planning to take her to lunch on a Friday! submitted by /u/1006andrew [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Where to find Lebanese style shawarma/shish taouk?

I've had some decent shawarma/shish taouk in Toronto but they've all had lots of spices (turmeric, saffron or graham masala) that isn't really part of what I associate with Lebanese shawarma/shish taouk. Has anyone found a good place for this type of food? submitted by /u/thatdudejustin [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Shot in the dark but you never know. If this makes any difference (because i was asked if i was male or female), i'm a single female. Just to avoid any confusion (as per some of the dm's i got), i don't have an extra tix. i'm asking if i can be someone's plus 1. submitted by /u/Suspicious-Smoke3031 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Downtown: looking for chataigne, indian cashews, and a west indian spice mixture called "adhowry"?

I'm looking for 3 items (preferably near downtown Toronto): cooked chataigne near downtown Toronto; every place I've found is in Brampton, Mississauga & Scarborough cashews like the ones sold loosely in some of the stores in Little India (I believe it has black pepper and some other spices). I tried the ones at Carlos House of Spice and even though they said it was the same, they were so bland they made Planters seem exotic a dark dried ball of spice from Trinidad whose name I don't exactly know & can't find anyone who knows, but it sounds like "adowry". I saw it added to curries yea ..read more

Like the least amount of misses even say on a late night. I say sumaq for obvious reasons and I also find Mona’s roti is always a hit also for obvious reasons if you’ve been inside and saw the operation. But what else? What’s under the radar? Xiaolongbao! Was my favourite dish before I moved to Toronto. I am unfortunately unable to find a place that does them good. My coworkers recommended Juicy Dumplings and I tried but I thought they didn't have enough juice inside, compared to Sammi and Soup in MTL. So please, share with me your favourite spots! submitted by /u/dwarf-in-flask [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
