Australia’s peak industry association says the federal government’s proposed changes to the Payment Times Reporting Act, which include the ability to name and shame businesses, are at risk of being heavy handed and need more balance to genuinely improve outcomes. Chief supply chain officers (CSCOs) risk alienating their people due to Generative AI (GenAI) misconceptions that could have a negative impact on talent strategies, says Gartner. The technological research and consulting firm analysed cross-functional survey data that was collected in November 2023 from 822 business executives. The federal government has launched its first Environmentally Sustainable Procurement Policy, which it says will generate strong local demand for recycled goods, cut waste and drive Australia’s transition to a circular economy. Beginning on 1st July, any business bidding for government construction services projects above $7.5 million must meet agreed sustainability outcomes.  This means the policy will apply to two percent of government construction services contracts in its first year, but will capture 50 per cent of the value of these contracts.
