Now more than ever, the Black community needs our allyship. The current resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement following the unjust killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minnesota has prompted us to continue the conversation about race in America.
For Black folx, the uncomfortable conversation surrounding race has never stopped. But their non-Black counterparts need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable real quick. Although talking about race can be difficult, these discussions are necessary for effective learning and change to occur.

The COVID-19 outbreak has done a full 180 on the world, uprooting the livelihoods of millions of people. 33.5 million Americans have filed for unemployment since March, the worst rate the country has seen since the Great Depression.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve seen several clients experiencing job loss in the wake of coronavirus. I commented on this in a CNBC Make It article written by Jennifer Liu. When COVID-19 first reached the US, I jumped into collective care mode.
As a mental health justice activist and the co-leader of 3 therapist communities, I’m privileged to support marginalized communities in need of mental health care AND therapists extending care during crisis.

Not all families are inclusive and supportive of diverse relationships, sadly. For folx that desire to share relationship news with their family members but are unsure that they will receive acceptance, this can be a daunting process.
For many, especially those from collectivist cultures, gaining acceptance of their partner and relationship from family is highly important. This desire is often paired with fear and pain if family members do not share similar values on inter-cultural/ faith/ racial relationships, or relationships that thrive beyond the heteronormative, gender-binary lens.
