WORDS BY MIKELLE STREETPHOTOGRAPHY BREANNA JOHNSON and DEONTE LEE
“I’m not your average model,” Honey Gonzales says, perched on a stool with a printed kimono wrapped around her shoulders, exposing her décolletage. “I’m cunt!” she emphasizes. There’s a pause before she looks at me again.
“Can I say that in GAY TIMES?” Well, we’ll find out.
Though it’s a dreary Thursday afternoon, Honey’s mug is anything but. Her makeup is being carefully applied (by Tiffany the Artist) for The Center’s annual gala ..read more

The rumours are true, you see a lot of unusual things on Berlin’s streets, like urban cow-riding, e-scooter tetris or flamboyant outfit checks. But when it comes to Javier de la Blanca and his way of dressing up, it’s more than just a fashion statement. It’s political and often questions the definition of what masculinity means today. “There is this rebellion inside me that doesn’t allow ..read more

One thing about RuPaul’s Drag Race is that there will be discourse. With such a massively popular show, it’s a bit inevitable that almost every action (or inaction) by RuPaul and the show’s producers cause conversation. Last week, Marcia Marcia Marcia complained about the show no longer requiring queens to sing for the Rusical (amongst other grievances.) The fandom rose up and cried foul pretty much unanimously when the show was shortened to hour-long episodes and the series later uploaded them at their full length.
Well, there’s a chance season 16 is also an answer to a long running co ..read more

With the economic blues hitting home and our hard-grafted Vinted sales no longer safe from the tax man, the euphoria around fashion might feel like it’s on the way out. But even the 2008 financial crash couldn’t stop London Fashion Week and so, this February, LFW reared its subversive, stylish head once more.
And, okay, we were kind of gagged! From Dilara Findikoglu’s ode to the divine feminine to Tolu Coker’s joyful, stree ..read more

Shaobo Han is always going to have an edit. A note, an alteration, an addendum … feedback. This personality trait can make them a key collaborator, helping to take a project from its first draft into a must-have accessory. But it also makes for the perfect theater when telling a story.
