Flat Stanley wants to wish you all a VERY Happy Fourth of July!  It’s a special day for our country. Independence day is a day to celebrate being an American by what we call patriotism. Nana loves the BBQ’s and fireworks and parades with flags flying high!  In this parade, George Washington was on the grand finale’ float.  It’s a big flowery flatbed of a truck that is decorated with fancy chairs for the parade stars to ride on. Flat Stanley saw George Washington and immediately recognized him as our first president.  You know he wanted to, you know he had to; you know he D ..read more

July 1st has come in hot as a tater tot straight out of the oven! New Englander’s aren’t used to this kind of heat! “This feels like Texas!” Auntie Terri declared. But it’s a day for BBQ and water sports, so let the fun begin! Happy Birthday Briana!! Slipping and a sliding Flat Stanley got a nice running jump and flung himself like a cherry from a slingshot straight across the slippery slip and slide! “Weeeeeeee!!!” The water sprayed in his ear so he had to shake his head to let it come out.  Do you ever get water in your ears?  It’s not a fun feeling, but it shook out fast and he w ..read more

Flat Stanley was hot on the trail to Virginia again.  He was missing his bestie Alexa and had to find a way.  He heard the train rolling down the tracks and hopped aboard! “All aboard!!” The captain shouted. Flat Stanley waved his arms to signal his safe landing on the train; and he was off for another adventure! Alexa met him at the train station.  The first thing she noticed is that he had lost his red suspenders.  She loves those red suspenders on Flat Stanley; it’s his badge of honor for being such a great farmer and taking care of the chickens. Flat Stanley explained h ..read more

Today Flat Stanley spent the day with friends helping them and himself to get, and stay, healthy. “Gotta get that heart rate pumpin’, come on girls!” Flat Stanley prodded. Sweatin’ to the oldies with Richard Simmons!  This is a fun video that gets your body moving!  You’ve got to move and groove and swing and sway.  It’s a little different than Gene Simmons that paints his face and rides that “Rock and Roll Train.” All of the Simmons’ just like to have fun it seems! The girls were quick to join in! Emilee and Devin were rockin’ it from swoooosh, and rollin’ it to swaaaang! The ..read more

“Fire it up and let’s roll!” Flat Stanley said when he saw the electricians truck pull up in the yard next door to work on Nana and Papa’s new house. He went out and took care of the chickens, giving them fresh water and hay and collecting the eggs.  Today he had dried mealworms and oyster shells as treats.  They do love their treats, and happy chickens make for tasty eggs! After compiling a dozen in a leftover egg tray that friends save for us, Flat Stanley trotted next door with a swing in his step.  He was ready for adventure! “Hi guy! I’m Flat Stanley,” he announced to the f ..read more

Flat Stanley was asking about the ski lift on the resort where Nana and Papa were staying. Nana explained that it’s summertime, but in the winter, when there’s snow covering the ground up here on the mountain; that skiers fly down the mountains. The ski lift has bench seats on a heavy wire that runs up and down the mountain.  The lift carries skiers to the top of the mountain, they are let off at the top and the ski to the bottom. “When it’s summertime, you ride the lift for the view,” Nana explained. “I want to go!” Flat Stanley exclaimed with that high pitched excitement in his voice. Nana and Papa were on their way home from their weekend getaway when they stopped for lunch at Koto’s Japanese Steakhouse. We decided to sit at the cooking table where the chef cooks the food right in front of you! Flat Stanley was really excited about this lunch!  There was bamboo climbing up the walls and the people were really friendly. Then the waitress rolled out a huge cart of cooking supplies, and set it next to the cooking table. Flat Stanley asked the little guy up on top if he was the chef. “No he replied, I just help put the flames out in case they get out of hand.” The chef ..read more

It was a rough week for Nana, Papa and the family.  Flat Stanley tried to cheer everyone up, but sometimes, pain runs too deep for smiles. Finally, Flat Stanley brought smiles back to the family! Nana decided it was a good time for a little getaway. Sometimes we all need a break from the day to day routine. Nana made reservations across the state and loaded the luggage, Papa and Flat Stanley into the car for a weekend getaway. About halfway  across the state of Massachusetts, the driver’s side windshield wiper cracked and began to slap with each stroke like a snake. Flat Stanley bega ..read more

Tonight Nana is talking to the adults only… please don’t continue if kids are in the room. I’ve waited until after hours for kids when we can talk candidly. As you may have found, Nana runs a day behind.  Yesterday, Nana was at a funeral with Papa for Papa’s auntie.  It just wasn’t a time for Flat Stanley… we weren’t smiling. I’m sure you understand that sometimes it is hard for Nana to come up with new posts every day.  The chickens, the garden, the construction…we do our best, but Flat Stanley needs a change of scenery. I beg of you to download, print and dress with the clothe ..read more

Flat Stanley Goes Fishing
Flat Stanley's Adventures in Massachusetts with Nana & Papa

Auntie Terri surprised Flat Stanley when she told him she was taking him fishing!  Flat Stanley was so excited!  He had never been fishing. “Will I catch a shark?” Flat Stanley asked. Auntie Terri had to giggle at the thought of a shark rising up from the lake where they were going fishing. As they reached the dock beside the lake, Flat Stanley was swinging from the umbrella pole rising from the table. Auntie Terri was threading her line through the hoops on the pole and getting her bait ready to roll.  Flat Stanley slid down the pole to help her. “Look at that boat, are we re ..read more
