In today's Express Entry Draw, IRCC issued 4,500 invitations to individuals with a cut-off score of 357+, who qualify under Canadian Experience Class. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC has only been selecting candidates who have at least 1 year of Canadian Work Experience. There has not been a draw for Foreign Skilled Workers since March 4th, 2020. IRCC may be waiting till such a time where people in Canada are vaccinated before issuing invitations to Foreign Skilled Workers. In today's Express Entry Draw, IRCC issued 6,000 invitations to individuals with a cut-off score of 368+, who qualify under Canadian Experience Class. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC has only been selecting candidates who have Canadian Work Experience. There has not been a draw for Foreign Skilled Workers since March 4th, 2020. To be a good candidate to obtain PR In order to be a good candidate to apply for PR, individuals currently need to come to Canada as a ,student or obtain a work permit to gain the additional points necessary to score 465+ points. In a very surprising event today, IRCC has selected 27,332 people in the Express Entry Draw and invited them to apply for Permanent Residence. All of these candidates have Canadian work experience are consider part of the CEC (Canadian Experience Class). This draw size is almost 6 times! the normal draw size. The result of selecting this many people in one draw is lowering the CRS score down to 75! and clearing out the queue in the Express Entry pool. Changes to the selection process On March 23, 2020, IRCC changed the selection process for Express Entry. They are now holding separate draws for PNP, CEC, FST and possibly FSW (this is yet to be determined). IRCC has now resumed issuing invitations to FSW candidates, after a temporary pause in March. On October 30th, IRCC made a major policy change with respect to issuing TRVs (visitor visas) for spouses of Canadian Citizens or Canadian Permanent Residents. With this policy change, it appears IRCC is more willing to approve a TRV in certain situations. For many years, IRCC’s internal policy has been to refuse TRV applications for foreigners who have a spouse who is a Canadian Citizen or PR. The Parental Sponsorship draw for 2020 has been re-opened, and accepting invitations from 12pm on October 13, 2020 to 12pm on November 3, 2020 ​ IRCC has changed the program format (yet again), to a lottery system, from the first come first served model that was in place in 2019. Individuals will have 3 weeks to submit an ,Interest to Sponsor form and enter the draw.
