The post Merrell Antora 2/Nova 2 with and without Gore-Tex Reviews appeared first on iRunFar.
Merrell continues to invest in their women’s-specific line, including with the updated Merrell Antora 2 ($110) and Merrell Antora 2 Gore-Tex ($140). This is great news for the trail running women of the world!
I had my first — and very positive — experience with Merrell trail running shoes a little over a year ago with the Merrell MTL Long Sky which I reviewed. At that time, Merrell had joined forces with mountain athlete Anna Frost to create a high performing trail shoe specially designed for wo ..read more

The post Best Men’s Ultramarathon Shorts of 2021 appeared first on iRunFar.
Nothing is better than running down the trail with a feeling of levity and strength, without even noticing the clothes you’re wearing. The best running shorts are the ones so comfortable that you don’t even have to think about them. While comfort is subjective, there are certainly qualities in all high performing running shorts.
In the sports of trail running and ultrarunning, where we seek out ridgelines and forests for long days out, many of us want a pair of shorts that will store supplies for long adventures.

The post Brooks Cascadia 16 Standard and Gore-Tex Reviews appeared first on iRunFar.
Brooks has historically strived to achieve “total comfort” in their line of Cascadia trail shoes, a standard that I can happily vouch for having run through a few versions. The standard version of the Brooks Cascadia 16 ($130) debuts in August 2021, with the Brooks Cascadia 16 GTX ($160) version coming out October 2021. This new version has several impressive updates designed to keep runners as comfortable and stable as possible on variable terrain. I had the pleasure of testing both the standard and GTX model ..read more

The post The North Face Vectiv Enduris Review appeared first on iRunFar.
After more than two years of research and many hours of elite-athlete testing, experience, and feedback, The North Face released a new line of trail running shoes with their new proprietary Vectiv technology early this spring. The goal of this new shoe line was to improve downhills, reduce tibial forces, and maximize energy preservation especially over the long distance run. They also offer three price points and performance levels to appeal to a wider variety of trail runners. The Vectiv sole unit is consistent across th ..read more

The post Hoka One One Zinal Review appeared first on iRunFar.
The brand-new Hoka One One Zinal ($160) is positioned as a shorter-distance trail running and racing shoe, but our reviewer found it developed enough that he’d consider racing 100 miles in it, too. Let’s look more closely at this shoe’s simple upper, dual-density midsole that includes Hoka’s PROFLY foam, Vibram Megagrip Litebase outsole, and much more.

The post Hoka One One Torrent 2 Review appeared first on iRunFar.
The Hoka One One Torrent 2 ($120) is the company’s attempt at a lightweight, lower-cushioning trail running and racing shoe. Our tester, however, found the Torrent 2 to do much more than fast running and racing. While it might not be the right shoe for very long days on aggressive terrain, we found the Torrent 2 to be pretty close to a do-it-all shoe for runners seeking something more pared down than the rest of the Hoka One One trail running shoe lineup. Learn more about the Torrent 2 in this video review.

The post Nike Air Zoom Terra Kiger 7 Review appeared first on iRunFar.
Refining a running shoe without losing the base audience that made the shoe so popular in the first place is difficult. We runners are a picky lot, and something as simple as a rubbing heel collar for some, or a sliding tongue for others, will send runners to the interwebs lambasting an otherwise fairly benign design change. Given the annual shoe-release cycle that designers, engineers, and wear testers go through, I can’t imagine the pressure they’re under. With resources far greater than most running-shoe companies, Nike ..read more
