This morning, the children took part in a fun-filled session which started off with brahmari (bee breath) – we turned our attention inwards and listened the the soothing humming sound of our own breath. We checked in with how our body and mind was feeling by choosing the most suitable emoji expression for us today After that, we did some sun salutation variations before using emoji cards which Miss B matched yoga poses to. We did camel , dolphin , wheel , tiger and many more. We finished with a guided relaxation titled ‘Cloud of Calm’ . At the end of the session, we thought once again about h ..read more

Today we paid tribute to the servicemen and women who fight for our country during our yoga practice as yesterday was Armed Forces Day. We began with a check-in and explained how our bodies felt this morning before moving on to some stretching. We then did a few beautiful flows and moved in time with our breath. Miss B then gave us Yoga Joe cards and we put some sequences together using them. After that, we had some of the typical PT exercises (which also incorporated yoga) that the armed forces do on a card and in groups, we chose some of them to teach to one another. Our taekwondo stars, dan ..read more

Yesterday saw the last session of the block and we celebrated with a Yoga Party theme. Warming up our bodies, we ran through some sun salutations after doing shitali breath. We then played some yoga party games such as ‘Yogi Says’ (Simon Says alternative), Pass the Yoga Parcel, Shanti Shanti Om (in duck duck goose style) and Yoga Musical Statues. There were prizes on offer and we even had cake to end the session. Thank you to all my mini yogis who turned up on a Sunday morning to flow with me ..read more

Today we discussed the eight limbs of yoga and what each limb means to us. After thinking about Dharana (the 6th limb), which makes us ponder our concentration, we spent 7 minutes of a song mindfully colouring the animal mask we had chosen in silence. We then did some breath work before moving to the third limb, asana. Our physical practise saw us completing rounds of sun salutations and then we used images of animals doing yoga to influence our own poses. We did bow pose , triangle pose and warriors . The session ended with a guided meditation (Dyhana – limb 8) in savasana as the children tho ..read more

Today the boys thought about the qualities of their favourite superhero before doing some breath work whilst thinking about their superhero mantra. We then flowed through a variety of poses including Wild Thing, lunges, Lizard and crow as we used our inner strength and focus to still our minds as we moved. We finished the session with a massage train (giving each other a massage) before coming into savasana. The boys were given a little Easter gift with a quote inside ..read more

Today we said ‘mamaste’ instead of ‘namaste’ as we Yoga’ed through the morning session. We begin our sessions with some lavender oil as we did Nadi Shodhana breath. The boys took part in some army yoga as we used ‘yoga Joe’ army figures to make poses with our bodies. We then made a lovely surprise for our mums – a mini lavender pillow. We finished with a relaxing savasana whilst holding the pillow to our hearts as we sent much love out to the world ..read more
