It’s been a while. It’s been a while since writing my thoughts on this blog. It’s been a while since I took running seriously. It’s been a while since I concentrate on my weight. And as expected my life has not gotten worse because I’ve not lost weight. Not concentrating on my weight has been a journey I’ve been on for about a year now. And as expected my life has not gotten worse because I’ve not lost weight. In fact it’s been a lot better. I’ve spent more time doing things I enjoy. Applying my thoughts and efforts to productive things like my relationship, career, house renovations. I ..read more

Time to tackle the Great North Run

Well to say I’ve been giving my Great North Run training serious attention, would be a lie. To say I’ve been following any kind of training plan, would be a lie. To say I’ve been committed to running when I don’t want to, would be a lie. With the exception of the Leeds 10k last week. Leeds 10k is my local race and a race I enjoy. And a race I had originally decided to give my all. However life got in the way and running has not been at the top of my priority list. So when race week came around I was hesitant. My bib was sat on the sideboard all week whispering to me. Every day I changed my min ..read more

Any body can run. Fuck you for judging mine.

Seriously, we’re in 2019 and people still believe that unless you’re anything less than a size 10 you 1) aren’t fit and 2) desperately want to be a size 10. Well let me tell you this, just because I’m not a size 10 does not mean I am not fit. It does not mean I can’t run. It does not mean I’m running for the sole purpose to lose weight. I run because I enjoy running. I run because I enjoy moving my body. I run because I enjoy the community. I run because it helps my mental health. I run because I like to push myself. One of THE greatest things about running races or parkrun or a running club i ..read more

I am more than my body

I will organise drinks with so and so once I lose 14 pounds. I need to lose a dress size before the birthday/wedding/christening otherwise I won’t enjoy it. I have to lose weight for my wedding or I’ll regret it for the rest of my life. My life will start and I will be happy once I’m smaller. These are thoughts that have plagued me since I was around 14. Since I started to become an adult and my body made natural changes. Since I discovered booze and takeaways. Since I went to uni and put on the freshman 15. Since I met my partner and learned to enjoy food again. Since I grew my career and str ..read more

Runsploring: bringing joy back to running
Cat Storey

Running and exploring. Runsploring. Yes it’s a thing. Honest. Runsploring at home or away. Runsploring a new city before a race or just bringing your trainers along with you on holiday or when visiting friends and family. I’m sure we’ve all laced up and headed out the door for a run somewhere new and discovered it’s a great way to bring some fun back to your running. I’ve been struggling to find the joy in running recently so I’ve taken away my Garmin and Strava so I concentrate on how a run feels rather than what my technology tells me to feel. And it’s been refreshing. However running somewh ..read more

Running: where did the fun go?

It’s been a while since I blogged. It’s been a while since I ran. It’s been a while since I was motivated to run. It’s been a while since I enjoyed running. When running is your therapy. But it stops working. What do you do? Running has always been a form of therapy for me. It’s there when I need to declutter my brain after a stressful day. It’s there when I’m angry and I need some time to think. It’s there when I’m sad and I need some time alone to reflect. It’s there when my body confidence is low and it reminds me how strong I am. No matter which complicated feeling I’m experiencing running ..read more
