Supply Chain Delays

Today, this is a very common scenario for distributors:  • suppliers lack inventory for the products distributors want to order for customers • there are significant delays in being able to fill orders on time     HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? The situation began with a shortage of workers in factories around the world that produce raw materials, components and finished products. That was coupled with an increase in shipping costs for imported materials and products. The transportation issue was made worse by the scarcity and cost of shipping containers, available space on ships, and a ..read more

Confused About Masks?? You’re Not Alone

There is so much confusion about whether people should wear masks, why and what kind. Much of the confusion around masks stems from a lack of understanding about the two different functions of masks. Masks protect the wearer from infection or protect others from infection passed by the wearer. Protecting the wearer requires medical-grade respirator masks, a proper fit, and careful putting on and taking off. They  can also be worn to prevent transmission to others, and this is their most important use for the population. Lowering the possibility of one person infecting another has an amazi ..read more

#2 of a 4 part series… part 1 Graphic designers can be hard to communicate with. That’s the reason we communicate with them on our customer’s behalf. Having worked with designers for about 25 years, it helps that we know the right kind of questions that will move the project along and create a final product that everyone will be happy with. They expend time and energy to come up with ideas, concepts and designs to achieve their goals. Sometimes, our customers will ask us to ask our designers questions that bring the project to a crashing halt, with incorrect assumptions about the design proces ..read more

Nondiscrimination Regulations of Section 1557 Can Hurt You!

Section 1557 of the ACA seems to have slipped through undetected by most practices. By now, we know that discrimination is against the law. Or we should know. Consequently, many physician practices don’t know the compliance standards of ACA Section 1557, and that they are currently NONCOMPLIANT. And who can blame a busy practice administrator?? With so many new rules & regulations,  this was easy to miss. IF a practice knows about Section 1557, the administrator assumes that it doesn’t apply to their practice. So who does this regulation apply to? ANY provider receiving federal assist ..read more

Exceeding Expectations- The Mantra for 2016

At the start of this year, I made a declaration. The mantra of the year is not something new or original; it just came about after reviewing the good and bad of 2015. That mantra is “Exceeding Expectations”. We’ve all heard this before over the years, and many of us live by this rule daily. Some implement it from time to time. It reminded me that I had seen an article online regarding “Relationship Marketing” and how it can add value to a medical practice. That article started out talking about how the internet and social media is impacting the reputation of a medical practice and how “relatio ..read more

While working with a few “new” practices over the last several months, and helping them put strategies in place for getting as many patients in the door as soon as possible, I found an article online that mimicked some of my thoughts to a tee! It proved my thought process was still on track.   For new medical practices, the difference between success and failure can be attributed to how quickly and effectively they build a referral base. This can be a daunting task.  There are three main sources of referrals for practices:  word-of-mouth  marketing campaigns  p ..read more

Business Lessons I’ve Learned (part 1)

The longer we’re in business, the more reflective I’ve become. Every now and then, I find myself getting reflective on what it is that got me and our business to where it is today. And….I might as well pass these lessons along, to anyone who might be interested.  Loyalty seems to have become a thing of the past. Tough economic times have taken its toll  on the way business is conducted today. Accepting this as the new reality rather than lamenting how it used to be can only be a time and sanity saver. It’s a sad truth, but the good news is that not EVERYONE we come in contact wit ..read more

Things Entrepreneurs should STOP doing IMMEDIATELY

I recently ran across an article that talked about things that entrepreneurs should STOP doing. And not just when you get around to it…but IMMEDIATELY.  Original Article  Briefly, the list included: Whining The writer makes the point that “no one goes through life unscathed”. We ALL have problems, and sometimes we are all too quick to forget that although our problems are huge to us, everyone else has problems that are huge to them. Whining turns people off, and does nothing to help solve anything. And there is nothing worse than playing the “victim”. Fix it, or move on and dea ..read more
