Lucy from the studio has made this adorable Liberty Baby Dress as a present her niece.  This is made using one of the gorgeous Liberty prints from the SS22 collection. Here’s what Lucy had to say about this make.  “One of the (many!) things I love about Liberty fabrics is the abundance of tiny, intricate details in some of their Tana Lawn® designs.  This, along with their lovely softness, makes them just perfect for children’s clothes, however, with my own children now all grown up, I usually just settle for a nostalgic rummage through these beautiful prints…until now! Ellie from the Creative studio has made this super sweet Liberty Knot Bag.  It’s so cute, reversible and uses a Liberty Tana Lawn® from the new SS22 collection.  Here’s Ellie to tell us about her make and first dabble into dressmaking. “I instantly fell in love with Strawberries and Cream as soon as I saw it and was eagerly awaiting for it to arrive in the studio. After admiring the samples on my desk for weeks, the fabrics finally came in and looked even more gorgeous in person; I could have easily taken the whole bolts home with me. Naturally, I couldn’t choose between the pink (S ..read more

Louise from our production studio has jumped back into dressmaking after 40 years and has made this gorgeous Liberty Kaleidoscope Top using Kaleidoscope C from the new Liberty SS22 collection, The Wonderful Fantastical. Louise talks us through her make: “Here at Alice Caroline, we are often asked whether we would like to make anything when new fabric collections arrive. There are countless examples of beautiful makes by my colleagues that have inspired me, but I have to admit to feeling a little daunted by the fact that I haven’t done any dressmaking for 40 years; the last time I made a ..read more

Laura has made this gorgeous Liberty Dress in Lantana, the new wool and cotton blended fabric from Liberty.  We’ve got six of these Lantana fabrics in stock at Alice Caroline HQ and they do not disappoint.  Super soft to the touch like Tana Lawn® but with that extra warmth and heaviness of wool.     Here’s Laura to tell us about her beautiful make.  “Liberty Lantana is a lovely cotton/wool blend that is super soft, smooth, and drapey. It is of course heavier than Tana Lawn® but still manages to be light weight. It feels amazingly luxurious to wear, call me ignorant bu ..read more

Liberty Christmas Wrapping

I love Liberty fabric so much that I love to wrap my presents in it. I think it gives a little extra to the present and love to see what people make with it or to see it being reused for another gift. This ancient technique is called Furoshiki (風呂敷) and was popular in Japan in the Edo Period (between 1603 – 1867) when Japan was in a period of economic growth.  I love the idea that this wrapping can be reused many times over or can be used for sewing or craft projects too.   Furoshiki are traditional Japanese wrapping cloths that were used to wrap good for transportation.   ..read more

Lara from the studio has made these Up-cycled Aprons as presents for her children.  These are so sweet and are a great use of old denim. Lara says:  “Every year, my children get packed off to Auntie Kate’s to make a gingerbread house, whilst I go off and dash round the shops and attempt to get all my Christmas shopping done in one day!” “The children have grown like weeds since lockdown and I realised they had outgrown their aprons. I had been rooting through my fabric hoard looking for something, when I came across a couple of pairs of old jeans and that is how my children’s denim ..read more

Debbie has made this super cute Liberty Stocking using one of my favourite Christmas Liberty fabrics – Liberty Christmas.   Here’s Debbie:  “I loved the fabric because it reminded me about my own childhood and the warm fuzzy feeling I always used to get around Christmas time.  The two fabrics I’ve used are both pretty sophisticated that lend themselves well to a hanging stocking.  This stocking has a sense of timelessness about it and is both suitable for boys and girls.  I love the vibrant pop of the Plain Peppermint R and I couldn’t resist using this as the stocking ..read more

Kathy has made this gorgeous Liberty Christmas Tree Skirt using a lovely combination of Liberty Tana Lawn® fabrics. Here’s Kathy to tell us about her make.  “I used a pattern I found on Pinterest – Jordan Fabrics.  I did originally have a different pattern in mind and this was one that suited what I wanted to create.  I used a tree skirt pattern but make a few changes.  I didn’t add the hole in the middle as I wanted to also use it as a table topper.  I also changed the pattern to make it much smaller as I found 62″ too big for my space.” Fabrics used: Adelajda C – f ..read more
