Much has been written about this style of photography. Some love the effect of an image that looks painterly, while other will argue that High Dynamic Range is fake… not real.  I suppose that HDR style of photography is a choice. You either love it our don’t  And… what exactly ..read more

Our first day of sunrise shooting in the desert… Up at 4am. Got showered, shaved, and packed for the day out photographing three locations in and around Death Valley. I jumped in my red Nissan Rogue rental and headed to the Devil’s Cornfield along Highway 190 near Stovepipe Wells. It ..read more

As you know… I am primarily a real estate photographer. You can see my real estate website at www.JustListedPhotography.com. Anyway… I had the opportunity to photograph this original 1938 home in Snohomish Washington. The basement photo included here was of the original basement from 1938. In around 1968 time frame ..read more

WOW… What a great find!! My habit has become to find an interesting place to capture a landscape while in route to a real estate photoshoot. On this day I wandered upon Preston Mill Park. Preston Mill Park was an old sawmill. This sawmill operated from 1892 to 1974. You ..read more

The last year has thrown me for a loop… like many people around the globe. I started the year in Death Valley with an awesome photoshoot in the desert, then stop to relax in Las Vegas before heading home to Snohomish, WA. During our mini-vacation in Las Vegas the pandemic started to take hold. We found ourselves to be some of the last people out of Las Vegas prior to the city shutting down. So many times of unrest in 2020. Then… back home we found ourselves no longer working from a factory or building. Rather, we were sent home to work from home… from a make shift office or kitchen table. Some ..read more

Our first day of sunrise shooting in the desert… Devil’s Cornfield at Sunrise Up at 4am. Got showered, shaved, and packed for the day out photographing three locations in and around Death Valley. I jumped in my red Nissan Rogue rental and headed to the Devil’s Cornfield along Highway 190 near Stovepipe Wells. It was about a 25 mile drive to a marker along the highway under the darkness of night. Finally… I found it and was first to the location. Devil’s Cornfield pre Sunrise We all gathered (12 out us) and hiked about a quarter mile into the desert among these stout bushes that looked like saw ..read more

Death Valley – Day 1

The photography workshop begins… I drive to the meeting spot at the Ranger Station at Stovepipe Wells. The town is small and very well kept. Across the street from the town’s General Store is the Hotel at Stovepipe Wells Village. Here is the U.S. Park Lodging info on this hotel. Sure wish I had this information prior to booking at the overprice Oasis at the Desert Ranch Hotel. Bad choice on my part. So… the photography pro hold our workshop showed up hiking in from the desert. A very nice entrance. There were 11 of us in this workshop. Many were just first timers or people out having some fun ..read more

Death Valley View It’s been over a year waiting on this trip. I have been so freaking excited and now… it’s time to capture some awesome desert photos. I landed in Las Vegas, NV, picked up my Nissan Rogue (Red), then hit Highway 160 to Pahrump, NV. From Las Vegas to Pahrump was 57 miles. Nissan Rogue At Pahrump I turned off and traveled about 25 miles west and into Inyo County in California. Then one left turn onto Highway 190 and another 30 miles to The Oasis at Death Valley. I’m at the Ranch property. <<Spoiler Alert>> The Ranch feels old, yet very early west themed. The rooms ar ..read more

The Doors at Post Alley

I was traversing down through Post Alley located just below the Pike Place Market when I found these two doors all laced with wonderful graffiti. They are located just across from the famous gum wall. When I am wandering around the city I like to go hand held and just shoot one frame. I do the because most times people or things are moving and it helps me eliminate so much de-ghosting. The color RAW capture below is my one shot and created into my second photo below in classic black and white processed into an HDR masterpiece. Much of what I learned came from Serge Ramelli’s HDR Mastercla ..read more
