Another week of the Ladies European Tour (LET) season is complete with the conclusion of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France. Golf Barriere in Deauville was the venue of the French Open for the second year running and it was Sweden’s Johanna Gustavsson who claimed her maiden LET title. There were 25 rookies teeing it up in France and it was Czechia’s Sara Kouskova who got off to the best start. The 2022 LETAS Order of Merit winner produced an opening round of 67 (-4) to be two shots behind co-leaders Laura Fuenfstueck, Liz Young and Annabel Dimmock. After eight years of trying and in her 129th start, Sweden’s Johanna Gustavsson finally became a tournament champion on the LET with a decisive victory in the Lacoste Ladies Open de France. Chasing her first LET title, Johanna Gustavsson of Sweden shot a five-under-par 66 on Friday to take a slim one-stroke lead with a round left in the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.  The 30-year-old from Orebro has a 10-under-par total heading into the final round of the 54-hole tournament at Golf Barrière in Deauville.  On an afternoon of low scoring, Gustavsson opened with four birdies on the back nine. Five weeks on from taking a stray golf ball in the eye, Hannah Burke finds herself contending for a second LET title in the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.  Back in August, the popular English player was forced to withdraw from the KPMG Women’s Irish Open after a freak accident. Whilst out spectating at an amateur golf tournament, she was knocked out by a golf ball which ricocheted off a tree directly into her right eye and she was rushed to hospital. The second round of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France is underway at Golf Barrière in Deauville after rain fell overnight and through the early morning, easing at around 9am.
