(Top, shorts, hat) In my 10 miles yesterday, I experienced hail (that made the street so slick that we had to walk on the downhills), beautiful spring views, dramatic winter views, and feelings of being too cold and warm.  It was quite an eventful run. My favorite running socks were all dirty, so I went with some that were too small. Is there a bigger runner’s pet peeve than when your socks SLIDE DOWN MID RUN!? This kept him entertained for 30 minutes. More spring cleaning… I’m on a mission. His favorite time of day is when Andrew comes home. This whole remodel thing started wit ..read more

Brooke is home after a weekend with her dad visiting her in Utah. 8.2 miles @ 8:32 pace. I love a ritual, and I can’t imagine a Tuesday going by without it full of tangents: *I took a 15-minute pilates class yesterday, and she had us hold this stretch on both sides.  I had no idea how much I needed this stretch in my life.  I’m guessing all runners need this stretch in their lives.  Try it today. *This recipe had a few more than 5 ingredients, but these were the leading stars from TJ’s: These Shrimp Sesame noodles (I used different noodles than what the recipe called for) wer ..read more

(shorts, long sleeve, bra, shoes) There’s nothing like a bunch of moms (23 kids between us) piling into a minivan early on a Saturday morning to run for a while. We started with a 4-mile climb up the canyon, turned around, and tempoed downhill at a 6:40 pace. I wanted faster, but I am still not fully recovered from my marathon last month, so I’ll take it:). Fifteen miles total @ 7:44 average with some stunning views. Every time I run this road, I can’t help but have to touch the fence before turning around to go down. We found snow even though, at this point, we were all feeling hot, ha. B ..read more

9 miles @ 8:26 average. He has graduated from baths, but after every shower, he asks me to hold him like a baby. My sister sent us to get two live trees for our house.. I’m in love. They will both get a few feet taller.  Hopefully, I can keep them alive. A date before she left for the weekend. Nerf-gun wars. Another very simple meal. Delicious. This is just our very natural pose to show off our Amazon dupes (on sale today for $21) that come in the best colors:). Jess introduced them to me, and I’ll never stray from her recommendations.  PS Isn’t it crazy how you can get a running long-sleeve shirt these days for the same price as a meal at a not-super-fancy restaurant? Jess has a marathon coming up, so we joined her workout for some 400s. The lactic acid was up to my chin by the 12th, so I called it at that one and cheered on the rest of the group doing more.  My paces ranged from 81 to 87 seconds for these 400s, and I fini ..read more

Wasn’t it just like 3 weeks ago that I was pushing her around in the jogging stroller around San Jose?  She only has a few weeks left of elementary school! HOW? This is a nice blurry screenshot from a video that I took from the run. My friend in the middle is running Boston next month; she will be in the ELITE corral. I’m so tempted to fly out to spectate. I am still so in love with this watch (my review is here).  The bright screen is one of those things that puts a pep in my step. Beretta would be glued to Andrew if she could. This pup sure helped Andrew during his single years w ..read more

Twelve miles @ 8:14 pace to start the morning, and look at that green popping up! It’s a little creepy with how many pictures I have on my phone of people’s running shoes, but the new Novablast 4s look really pretty, and I can’t wait to try them. It was a camp chair on the street while the kids played kind of a day. We should have shopped for groceries but bought rice bowls from 180 Tacos instead. Andrew’s friend, Chris Bukard, was in town with his movie–> The Forgotten Coast. It was incredible. The film was about Chris’s expedition on his bike across 400km of Iceland beaches along with ..read more

A St George run. 10 miles @ 8:04 Warm enough here for the bathrooms to be open and drinking fountains to be on Many many hills. Andrew then went out and got in so much biking. Pool all day. I stayed in the hot tub. The best spicy chicken pita. And then we went to my BIL and SIL’s home: Kneaders (which will always remind me of Mer). And staying up way too late. Lots of purple for my Thursday run:).  8 miles! Andrew’s birthday started with cinnamon rolls and then taking Brooke to an ENT.  Pray that there is a cancellation because this girl needs her tonsils out ASAP, and everybody is booked here for at least 6 weeks. Of course, in-n-out happened! Skye has been waiting for weeks for ‘bring your pet to school day.’  Beretta was awarded with the Best Behaved certificate which made Skye very proud. And then we hit the road for St. George, the kids have a four day weekend and so it worked perfectly with Andrew’s birthday. Favorites time ..read more

Today is a very important day. It is Andrew’s 36th birthday. He has work off for a few days, so we are heading south for him to get in some mountain biking. Thank goodness his fibula healed up in time for mountain biking season… He is grateful he broke it right as winter came along when the trails were too muddy for him to ride anyway!  Here’s to all of the peanut M&M’s, in-n-out, bike shops, and scary movies (the one time each year I will watch one with him).   I’m so grateful for Andrew and can’t wait to spoil him today. Signs of a runner doing a big workout are below.  My ..read more
