One chapter for this family is about to end with a new beginning on the horizon. This has been their home for nine years but it’s now time to move on; A new home is being built, just minutes down the road. They have raised their three boys here and there has been many a beverage had with neighbours in the street, watching the children play on their bikes. This sweet mama and I were both in tears while watching the slideshow of her images. She confessed that recently that she had realised she wasn’t in many photos. With her always behind the camera, what would her children have of her to remember her by? Even though she is by their side everyday, the photos collection didn’t show that. As I was taking photos of this families eldest daughter in the cubby she casually told me, “We call this the love cafe'“ and pointed to the hand drawn sign etched on the wall next to the door. After 70 years in the same family, this beautiful home was about to be sold.It had been home to a friend of mine’s parents who had passed. As we chatted about the upcoming sale, it was clear the home was going to be hard to part with. The process of sorting through and clearing out many years of belongings had been almost completed. You had the best intentions to book in a newborn session.  But baby came early or you were just so tired with all the craziness a newborn brings you just didn’t get around to it. Don’t worry it’s never too late to have a photo session to welcome a new baby!This gorgeous boy was six months old when we had his session.  He was full of smiles, showing off his two new toothy pegs. In 2013 during a cuppa and a catch up, my friend Lauren mentioned her personal project, a completed interview with her mother now languishing on her computer. The interview with her mum Trudy had been a three year labor of love, starting soon after her mum’s diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia.
