I’d like to share the story about how I came to start a photography business and how that fateful beginning has also informed my decision to make some big changes around here. If you’d care to hear more, I invite you to read along. In 2008 I was in graduate school studying Counseling. My prior education was in psychology so stepping into the field of counseling felt like a natural progression. I had been in my program full-time for about a year, commuting 12-15 hours per week and working a part-time job when something in me snapped. I couldn’t handle the stress of working a traditional job whi ..read more

I never quite know how to describe October in the Rocky Mountains. Is it fall? Yes. Is it also winter? Yep. Does it sometimes feel like summer? Yeah. Is it unpredictable, snowy, warm, fall-ish, beautiful and wild? Always. Sometimes the fall color sticks around until mid or late October and sometimes the golden leaves are off of the trees by October 1st. Sometimes we get a foot of snow (like we did last night) and sometimes it’s sunny and 70 degrees. To get married in Colorado in October means embracing anything that nature brings across our path, from blizzards to wildfires and wintery wi ..read more

I know I’ve said it here before but Colorado just doesn’t get better than Telluride in the fall. The aspen trees set against the San Juan mountains are so breathtaking. If you’ve never been, put it on the top of your must-see list! Trinity and Robert decided that they wanted to elope in the fall in Colorado and then celebrate with their closest friends and family back home in Texas. I think that is the best of both worlds because you get to have intimacy and privacy on your wedding day and you also get to see those who love you most as they celebrate your big day! They lucked out with amazing ..read more

When you wake up on your wedding day, all you should have to think about is how many hummingbirds you can count from the back porch while watching the pine trees sway back and forth in the breeze. Ok, you should probably also think about marrying the love of your life later that day too, but you know what I mean. Stress shouldn’t even be a category on your wedding day and one of the best ways to achieve that is by getting married at the very place you’re staying at. Being off the grid and out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life is the only way to go on your wedding day, in my opinion (Br ..read more

These are strange times, friends. The Coronavirus has upended just about everything, including weddings.   Sadly, we have seen a lot of cancellations this year. Many of our clients have lost jobs, lost their ability to travel, lost their venue, lost their dreams of getting married in Colorado. It has been heartbreaking to witness. I am so sad that COVID-19 has stolen all of these dreams from our clients and impacted my business so deeply.   At the same time, we have also seen an influx of new couples embracing the times and deciding to elope. Most of our new couples were forced to ca ..read more

So, what do you do when the Coronavirus threatens to undo your entire wedding day? Improvise, of course. That is, after all, one of the more beautiful things about eloping. Flexibility.   These days, there has been a lot of improvising going on around here. From rescheduling wedding dates to changing travel plans to relocating weddings entirely, I have spent most of the last month helping our clients navigate the smoothest way possible out of the COVID-19 weeds. It hasn’t been easy, but we’re doing it!   Taylor and Stephanie got caught in the crosshairs of the Coronavirus chaos that ..read more

We are neck-deep in snow in Colorado right now. We’ve had an intense winter with several storms that dropped several feet of snow in less than 48 hours. I look at the forecast and see snow just about every other day. It’s not awesome for travel (just ask Andrea, who had to navigate I-70 closing on her way to Andi & Austin’s wedding – ha!) but it’s really awesome for snowy elopement photos! There’s something about snow that makes wedding photos just pop! Having an all-white backdrop just makes everything look and feel cozy and inviting.   Andi and Austin started planning their winter elopem ..read more

Can I tell you a secret? Colorado is a little bit crowded. OK, a lot crowded. The Denver area alone has 300 people per day who move here. 300 per day! 300! Sometimes this uptick in population and popularity affects our weddings. Sometimes we have a hard time finding parking at our ceremony locations. Sometimes tourists picnicking nearby are loud and annoying and have no respect for nature. Sometimes traffic is so bad that wedding guests are an hour late to the ceremony. Sometimes, even if we hike for 5 hours on a secluded little trail, we’ll find 50 people waiting at the lake at the end of the ..read more

Jacey and Michael opted for a simple courthouse ceremony, but that didn’t stop them from wanting some awesome mountain photos of the two of them all dudded up in their wedding apparel! You don’t have to get married in the mountains to have beautiful mountain wedding photos! I came across this beautiful spot a few years ago while exploring around Colorado and Jacey knew it was the perfect spot for her and Michael’s photos together. Sometimes the best spots are hidden in plain sight!   They were soo lucky to have a warm and sunny afternoon in the mountains this fall! We have had some pretty unpr ..read more
