This could actually be one of my fave dress/fabric creations ever guys! As a Minerva Brand Ambassador, I often work with Minerva to make some great creations, but there is something about this stunning dress pattern and this adorable rayon viscose that I am over the moon with. I am so in love with this Daphne Dress from Hubba Ding, I mean, those tiers! As usual guys, as this is a project for Minerva, I am going to ask you to click the link here to see it in all it’s glory and read all about it, but I hope you do, as like I said, this one feels special. In the meantime, I shall be swirling and ..read more

The Bob Pant from Style Arc.

The power of Instagram. There’s a reason that I don’t wear trousers all that often, it’s because more often than not I feel that they just don’t suit me. However the Bob Pant from Style Arc kept catching my eye and I relented. They looked really cute on everyone that has made them and who doesn’t need a simple pair of woven elasticated trousers in their wardrobe? These trousers have an edgy balloon shape to them, and also have side seam pockets. If you have not sewn a Style Arc pattern before, I think it’s fair to say that they are pretty basic. They are a digital download, and everything that ..read more

My Folk Blooms Quilt

They say that the best things are worth waiting for, and boy oh boy this has been a long time coming. This is not because it has taken a particularly long time to make, but because I just didn’t get around to finishing the ‘quilt sandwich’ after I had made the top. This is the Folk Blooms Quilt and isn’t it just the most adorable quilt pattern you ever did see?! However there are a ton more beautiful and whimsical designs over on the Pen and Paper Patterns site here. I’m pretty sure that you will find it nigh on impossible to choose a favourite, they are all so charming. It’s a traditionally p ..read more

A cosy Tilly and the Buttons Pearl Cardigan

My final blog post for 2023 is going to be short and sweet as it is a garment that I have sewn for Minerva as part of my role as a #minervabrandambassador The Pearl is a sweet little v neck wrap cardigan from Tilly and the Buttons that is cropped at the waist and fastens with a tie. I chose to make the balloon sleeve version (there is a short sleeve and a long straight sleeve choice too), and used this gorgeous navy sparkle knit sweater fabric. I won’t say too much more on here because my full post is available to see now over at Minerva here. All that remains is to wish you all a very safe an ..read more

A Bargello Shopping Basket

You may have noticed that I love to make bags. I also love to use woven shopping baskets for my bigger shopping trips too, so as I have made lots of over the shoulder, cross body and tote style bags recently, I thought I would give a structured shopping bag a go. I picked up some large sheets of plastic canvas whilst on holiday in the States earlier on in the year, but if you are in the UK, or elsewhere you can find them online very easily. My sheets were Plastic Canvas – 7 count – 12″ x 18″. I am describing this as a Bargello project, but you might also call it tapestry or long stitch. I had ..read more

I’m a sucker for a bargain, and when Simplicity had a recent half price sale I couldn’t help have a little peek to see if there was anything that I liked the look of. The pattern that I treated myself to was Simplicity S9454 which I bought from Sew Direct here. It’s a sweet adult/child matching dress or tunic pattern which has the following features.. Over the head design with a single button back closure Dropped shoulder puffed 3/4 length sleeve or short soft pleated sleeves calf length tiered skirt round bias finished neckline Gentle gathers into the neckband at the shoulder seams Pockets ..read more

I love making bags. I think many of us who like to sew have probably made a tote shopping bag or two in our time, but this triangular ruffle bag is on ANOTHER LEVEL! There is something very relaxing about taking on a project that is not challenging, easy to sew and a quick make. Throw in that it is a good way to use up your leftovers and you have a winner. This is the Triangular Frill Tote from Tytka Studio. It is a modern triangular shaped tote bag, which can be worn with the sides folded inside to showcase the triangular shape, or with the sides extended flat to give it a regular rectangular ..read more

I have a little treat for you this time, and am super happy to be working with Fabriques. * Fabriques are an online fabric store that sell many different types of fabrics. I found them a couple of years ago when I was looking for good value/high quality swimwear fabric with fun printed patterns, and completely fell in love with the rose patterned swimwear fabric that I bought from them. The fabric that I chose for this project is a vibrant Toucan/Parrot print in the most amazing bright shades of pinks/blues and golds. I honestly think that the brighter the better when it comes to swimwear, and ..read more

Another Burda 6401

If I ever wanted to dress as a pair of 1970’s curtains, now is my time! This fabric immediately grabbed my eye when having a rummage through the bargain bins at Neil’s Fabrics in Milton Keynes. It’s a beautiful lightweight cotton and I loved the bright colours and vintage vibes. I didn’t have a plan regarding which dress I would make with it at the time, but as I often wear my original version of Burda 6401 which I made about 5 years ago, I thought that another dress made with this pattern was long overdue. Also, and I hate to admit this, my original version was feeling a little bit tight so I ..read more

The Avenir Jumpsuit.

A few months ago the Avenir Jumsuit from Friday Pattern Co. was re-released, and in an incredibly size inclusive XS-7X range (32″/81cm – 60″/152cm). The jumpsuit has wide leg trousers and wide billowy raglan sleeves which can be short or long – the long sleeve is gathered with elastic. I chose to make a cropped leg trouser as I think this suits my 5’2″ height better, and a sleeve that finishes just below my elbow. As for sizing, I cut a straight size medium. My measurements atm are 36-32-42, and whilst this put me in a size M bust, and a size L waist and hip on their size chart, I decided to o ..read more
