2024 First Quarter Recap
Beauty Vixen

Hi everyone. I haven't done a recap since I quit my job to start school in January, I didn't feel I had a lot to recap for a while. I put it off and I put it off some more. Now, I feel Jan-Feb-March makes a good quarterly round-up. So let's take a look at how my year has been going. January January was interesting, I didn't have to go back to work and I had some time to myself. This also happened in the new year of 2021, because of a lockdown. I got a bit of stuff done around the home, but as always, never as much as I would like.  I messed around in my office trying to set up a good w ..read more

Scalp Scrub Showdown Round 4
Beauty Vixen
by Jill Oliver-Fox
3w ago
It is once again time for another Scalp Scrub Showdown. This is now my 4th time comparing 4 different scalp scrubs under a microscope. Of course, my microscope stopped working and I had to buy a new one for this round. This round I am going to compare scrubs from Yves Rocher, Marc Anthony, Christophe Robin, and The Body Shop. Now I have already reviewed a scrub from both The Body Shop and Marc Anthony before, but they both seem to no longer exist. With that I will also note that today's Yves Rocher scrub isn't available anymore, it has been replaced with something new and the Marc Anthony s ..read more

I think it's safe to say, most people hate facial sunscreens. I feel so lucky to live in a time where there has been a major shift towards sunscreens that are skincare. Now, so many formulas are being brought out that are doing so much more than just being the SPF step in your routine. You're now getting skin care benefits and protection all in one. Cutting down on heavy layers and making the process feel fantastic. Aqua Bomb Broad Spectrum SPF 50 has been a hot ticket item for almost a year now. It was honestly hard to find. Vintage Perfumes From My Collection
Beauty Vixen

I have been building up a perfume collection for a while now, and I realized not too long ago that a few of my scents have been around for decades. I thought I would give you a bit of a glimpse into a few of my vintage (20 years or older) scents. Clinique Happy (1998) I fell in love with Clinique Happy, maybe around 2004, or 2005. It had a citrus punch I like and I thought it smelled fresh. I feel I caught on around the time it was hitting really big because there were always sets with other scents like Happy in Boom, Happy Heart, and a few others. For about 8 years I wore it a lot and had f ..read more

Once a year, Beautylish offers a mystery box that is Lunar New Year themed, the Lucky Bag. I got it back in 2022 and really liked it, I decided to get it again this year. First off this box costs $107 Canadian once it is all said and done, there is also an option for an XL box, I just got the regular one. Second thing is, this box is a way for Beautylish to clear out some older items.  The box cam well wrapped and protected. It also has a beautiful wrapping paper that is themed for the Lunar New Year (lots of dragons and makeup). It is such a pretty detail. What I got. The box is supp ..read more

Empties Time - Early 2024

From time to time, I use up a bunch of stuff, get tired of the packaging hanging around and do an empties post. Now is that time. Up & Up Sport Sunscreen Stick My mom brought me three of these a few years back. I really like them for travel or for touch ups on a day out. I first heard about it when my friend Melissa blogged about it. I really love them, unfortunately they expired on me, so what is left is going into my recycling pile. Saje Well-Being Balancing Diffuser Blend I got a set of Saje oils a long time ago. This has been a long time coming in the using it up department. I rece ..read more

December 2023 Roundup
Beauty Vixen

December 2023 came and went, it was another fast but incredibly emotional one for me. Rich and Me on Xmas Day As I mentioned in the last few roundups, I would be leaving my job of 26 years that I had since grade 12, at the end of the holiday season. Well, that happened in December.  It was a lot. A lot of emotions and feels to say the least. I said goodbye to so many wonderful people and pets. Clients I had known since I was 17, those that I have known less time, people I consider my friends, and of course their adorable and sweet pets.  Bradley's last day of wor ..read more

2023 Movie Round Up
Beauty Vixen

2023 is done, and I thought I'd once again look at what I've been watching. I started journaling my movie watching habits in 2021, trying to watch 'new to me' movies and I've really enjoyed it. It's made me consciously choose to watch movies that  I would not normally have watched. I have watched more classic movies that I have wanted to watch for years. Plus, as an added bonus, I have been less likely to just sit around and watch half a movie I have already seen a 100 times just because it is on tv (yes, I still have cable, it is included with my condo fees). I broke last year's movies ..read more
