Children learn in different ways. Sometimes they can also learn something while doing something they enjoy, known as edutainment. It is convenient when a book’s character or series matches the values you want to encourage. An association to a series could also support children in finding an initial connection with other children. The following are a few tips to encourage children to read books.
1. Look for relatable characters
Connection with characters in a story may make it easier for children to learn from their experiences and perhaps appreciate a topic from a different ..read more

We all know that homework is a parenting minefield — do they get too tired? Are they hungry? Are they distracted by the people around them or the television? You have to find a balance between pushing them and letting them go.
But do not fear; there are things you can do to help preschoolers get schoolwork done independently.
Here are ten ways for you to help your little ones succeed:
1. Make the homework pen a happy place

Children are distracted with so many things In this modern digital world. Advertisers are trying to get their attention to sell products. Social media is making them so confused. How can they focus on studies or what they want to achieve in life?

As we are approaching the end of 2020, many of us will be glad to see it gone. It's been an incredibly challenging time for everybody. For Can Cubs we remained shut for a good deal of the year which was of course a loss for both ourselves and our members. Although we faced many hurdles this year, my sympathies especially lie with the children and the elderly. Reason being, the young and the very old, lack the capabilities to discover the realities of this world and what's unfolding around them. The developmental impacts regarding children across the world has been severe this year, to say t ..read more

I can probably bet that you, and possibly your children as well, have worn a face-mask recently. I'm sure you have been given justification for you to wear it by the authorities, but did they tell you the potential health risk they pose?
There was a study conducted back in 2008 titled 'Preliminary report on surgical mask induced deoxygenation during major surgery' in Başkent University. Faculty of Health Sciences. Department of Nursing and Health Services. Ankara, Turkey. It outlined the risks of wearing a face-mask/surgical mask or indeed any other face covering. Essen ..read more

Across the world, there is a lot of doom and gloom when it comes to health. However, there has been some good news, specifically related to infants. It has been observed by doctors in the USA that there have been fewer infant mortalities compared to before the 'coronavirus' hit.
A recent book which details this is titled 'Health Choice, Lessons From The Lockdown, Why Are So Fewer Children Dying' states:
"Starting in early March, expected deaths began a sharp decline, from an expected level of around 700 deaths per week to well under 500 by mid‐April and throughout May. As s ..read more

When I was reflecting on my own childhood for things that may have impacted my own childhood development in a negative way, I was able to write down fairly comprehensive list. I wouldn’t of been able to compile this list however, if I didn’t have the practical experience gained from working in the childcare sector. True knowledge is of course a combination of practical experience and information derived from reliable sources.
Working with children, parents & teachers first hand for the best part of 9 years has helped me become more aware of the detrimental impacts children face ..read more
