Confirmation Saints?

Basically what I know so far is that having a Confirmation Saint is not really that traditional in Anglicanism but can be a pious personal choice for an individual. My questions is who counts as a “saint”? Could any person included in the Episcopal Church’s Calendar of Blesseds count or must it be someone specifically designated the capital S “Saint” title (like the Apostle’s)? [I do find the idea of someone’s confirmation saint being a historic Reformer who may have rejected the idea of the intercession of the saints kinda funny though LOL (“St. John Calvin, ora pro nobis”)] submitted by /u ..read more

Why, if I love this church so darn much, and disagree with the Catholic Church on most of their social issues, do I feel so drawn to the Catholic Church?

Leaving this Reddit Group

I have decided that it's time to move on from this Reddit group. In general, I've found to be a place where having differences in opinion is not tolerated. It's also a place where people try to silence and cancel those with whom they have a differing opinion. Such a place isn't healthy for anyone. I started following this group because I thought it would be interesting and as a form of, for lack of a better word, entertainment. I do have a life and many other interests and activities as well as friends and family. This group was, for me, just a leisurely past time. What seems to be apparent i ..read more

For anyone that heard about the Episcopal -Methodist full communion discussion, are you for it or against it, and what's your religious background (if any)?

Polls are limited. If you converted or became atheist or agnostic, the religious influence you had growing up will suffice. Otherwise fill out something else. View Poll submitted by /u/luxtabula [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

hello! i am a fairly new Episcopalian, and i was just received about a month ago! i have been really struggling with sexuality lately. i grew up Catholic, so my views are very misconstrued. i cannot find any clear answers on these topic anywhere, so i thought id ask here. what is the Episcopal stance on hookups? 2 people getting together to chat and have sex consensually. and what is the view on porn or content used in masturbation? if porn is clearly consented to is it wrong? is using a video not intended as porn to masturbate wrong? i feel very guilty for even thinking of sex or pleasuring ..read more

Taking communion and not eating it

Hi everyone. Firstly, I’d like to preface saying that it was my first time today in a church that gives communion. I was raised Baptist and have not been to a church in about 15 or so years. I recently started to grow in my faith again and wanted to go to an Episcopal church and I absolutely loved it. I was baptised about 20 years ago. But…. During the communion I got up and took the communion wafer but I let my OCD control me and did not eat it out of fear of the germs. I know I just shouldn’t have taken it or I should’ve just eaten it… but I have pretty severe OCD regarding germs and I was ..read more

A bit of progress on my spiritual journey...

Hey guys. You might know me on here from my "questioning my denomination" post. In that post I said I was thinking about attending the Episcopal church near my house because something (that I believed to be a calling from God) was drawing me to it, but I couldn't explore this opportunity because I'm a minor, therefore living with my parents, who are Baptists. I opened up to them a bit today about how the church we go to right now doesn't really feel like home to me personally. I have been sitting on these feelings for a while. We were talking about it this morning before we went to church, an ..read more

Daily office question?

I am currently using the 1979 BCP for the daily office. I'm thinking about using the Anglican Service Book (For those that don't know, it's the 1979 BCP that's been put into entirely Rite I/traditional language throughout.) I found it for free, and I personally think it's nicer in the traditional language http://justus.anglican.org/resources/bcp/Anglican_Service_Book/index.html Is there any reason I shouldn't use the Anglican Service Book? submitted by /u/PlanktonMoist6048 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello all! New dad here who wants to do the daily office as a spiritual discipline with my newborn. Of course, holding my kid means at best have 1 hand free, so I’m wondering which app you all recommend. Ideally it will include the scripture built in for each day. Thanks and God Bless! submitted by /u/Meldryn124 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Question about communal collects

So I am a supply priest in the Northeast. I'm relatively new to ministry, having only been ordained for 2 years. Something I have encountered in a lot of the churches I celebrate in is the congregation joining the priest and saying the collect for purity and collect of the day. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you have any idea where it comes from? NGL it bugs me a little bit. It's contrary to the intention of the prayer book. It also confuses the role of the priest as presider and what the collects are historically intended to do. Thoughts? submitted by /u/sirscransington68 [visit reddi ..read more
