Jonathan Kainessie, better known as Jonny Kaine, is big on legacy. The 23-year-old West Charlotte native with Sierra Leonean roots aims to transcend generational gaps in Black culture through his fashion designs. With his latest drop, he pays tribute to culture-shifting figures like Malcom X, the Charlotte Black Hornets (a Negro Carolina League baseball team), and political hip-hop pioneers Public Enemy.

Charlotte will host an international friendly match at Bank of America Stadium this summer between Real Madrid and Chelsea. One of the winningest teams in Europe, 14-time Champions League title winners Real Madrid will take on two-time Champions League winners and six-time Premier League champions, Chelsea, on August 6 at Bank of America Stadium. Chelsea will return to Charlotte for the first time since their 2022 friendly against Charlotte FC, when Charlotte defeated the Blues 5-3 on penalty kicks.

The 2024 NCAA Tournament is finally here, and several teams will represent the Carolinas in the tournament. Duke, UNC, N.C. State, South Carolina, Clemson, and Charleston will gear up for the tough road ahead to win a National Championship. Unfortunately, some Carolina hopefuls like the Wake Forest Demon Deacons didn’t make the cut after some conference tournament upsets broke the bubble, with the most notable being N.C. State’s magical run for the ACC Championship.

Comedian Matt Rife will be returning to Charlotte for multiple shows at The Comedy Zone May 21-23. Rife, who is currently on his ProbleMATTic World Tour, which sold over 600,000 tickets in under 48 hours, is an Ohio native who is best known for his crowd interaction at shows. He has self-produced two comedy specials (Only Fans in 2021 and Matthew Steven Rife in 2023) and got his start on television shows such as Wild ‘n Out and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, prior to his recent stand-up comedy success. Following the release of his ninth studio album, Insano, Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum artist Kid Cudi has announced a massive world tour, coming to Raleigh’s PNC Arena on July 11. The tour stop in North Carolina will feature Pusha T and Dreamville’s EarthGang with Jaden (Smith), Chelsea Pastel, and Siena Bella in select cities.
