FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has released a new list of LGBTQ+ friendly businesses in the area.
The list is made up of businesses that have tagged themselves as LGBTQ+ friendly on Google.
The CVB compiled the list as part of their ongoing efforts to showcase the inclusiveness of the metro to travelers and residents.
CVB President Charley Johnson says that the best way for visitors to promote your business as LGBTQ+ friendly is to be up front about it.

FARGO (KVRR) – Lately there has been more and more concerning cases of violence in downtown Fargo. Earlier this month, a man was beaten badly and on Monday night there were numerous gunshots fired near Island Park.

FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – Contract negotiations are described by a union leader as “intense” as the union representing production workers at the CNH Manufacturing Plant in Fargo continue.
The contract, covering about 800 hourly employees, expires on Sunday. A union representative says Local 2525 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers is seeking higher pay, and health care and pension benefit improvements. The contract that is expiring was for six years. The negotiations are taking place at a neutral location in Fargo.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Republican attempt to expedite an ethics investigation of a Democratic Minnesota state senator who’s facing a felony burglary charge failed on a tie vote Wednesday.
Sen. Nicole Mitchell, of Woodbury, was absent as the Senate reconvened for the first time since her arrest early Monday at her estranged stepmother’s home in the northwestern Minnesota city of Detroit Lakes. Mitchell was charged Tuesday with one count of first-degree burglary and allowed to go free after a day in jail.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) – UND’s Energy and Environmental Research Center has landed a major award to study enhanced oil recovery.
The Department of Energy is giving the center $11.6 million to investigate how CO2 injected into an unconventional reservoir in the Bakken Formation will result in increased oil and gas production.
They will also look into the feasibility for permanent storage of CO2 in unconventional shale oil and gas reservoirs and repurpose existing infrastructure.
The study will last 18 months and be conducted in the field and in the lab.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Zandbroz Variety will close its door this summer for good after 33 years in business.
The owners of the book and gift store say they plan to close in June.
In a post to Facebook, Greg and Renee say it’s time to begin a new chapter.
They called out the support from customers who helped them, writing, “You have allowed us to survive and thrive and were there for us through the rise of e-readers and Amazon, floods, and a pandemic.”
Zandbroz Variety has an original location in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and that store will stay open.

FARGO (KFGO/KVRR) – Someone spray painted the mural on the south wall of Bernie’s Wines & Liquors on South University Drive over the weekend.
General Manager John Langdahl says it happened Saturday night or Sunday morning.

FARGO (KVRR) — In texts obtained by KVRR Local News, former Executive Director of the Metro Flood Diversion Authority Joel Paulsen suggests that MFDA Chair Shelly Carlson and MFDA Chief Counsel John Shockley violated the Joint Powers Agreement, governance policies, and North Dakota law when they attempted to place him on administrative leave prior to his resignation.
In the texts between Paulsen and MFDA Board Member John Strand, Paulsen said that his attorney had informed him that Carlson did not have the power to give him an administrative leave ultimatum without the approval of the board.
