The Mehlville Fire Protection District hosted a specialized training class on May 2 in collaboration with SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, focused on managing critical airway situations in infants and children. Instructors from Cardinal Glennon, paramedic Rita West and MFPD Battalion Chief EMS Training Officer Darick Day taught personnel not only from Mehlville but also from other districts like Shrewsbury and as far as Cape Girardeau. Missouri Gov. Mike Parson signed legislation Tuesday that boosts the minimum salary for teachers, changes the formula for funding public schools and expands a tax-credit scholarship for private schools. It also allows charter schools in Boone County and requires a public vote for districts seeking to go to a four-day school week. When fully implemented, the legislation is estimated to cost roughly $468 million a year. Parson signed the bill a day before the constitutional deadline to take action. The St. Louis County Library and the St. Louis Public Library are joining forces this summer to offer a summer reading and exploration program called “STL Summer Adventure.” The program, open to children 0 to 17, invites participants to “go on an adventure” with a focus on a variety of different activities in STEM, art, outdoors, St. Louis and reading. The Lindbergh High School baseball team had endured enough. After suffering a six-game losing streak, a win over Kirkwood May 1 was just what the doctor ordered. The St. Louis County Police Department is investigating a fatal accident that left a Lemay man dead. Nathaniel Tullock, 22, of the 4000 block of Dolbil Drive, 63125, was killed when the motorcycle he was driving crashed into the back of a pickup truck on Union Road near Park Hill Court last month. According to police, officers from the South County Precinct responded to a call for service at 5:27 p.m. April 30. The Mehlville MOMS club is holding its twice-a-year resale event, Baby Mania, May 4 in the parking lot of Mehlville High School, 3200 Lemay Ferry Road. Shopping is open from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday, though those who purchased Early Bird passes in advance for $20 may begin shopping at 7 a.m.  Baby Mania is a free shopping and resale event with multiple vendors selling baby and kids items.
