In the first round. Instead: Embrace the rebuild. Draft BPA at 12 or trade back for more picks. Start stidham this year and suck on purpose. Even if next year's draft doesn't have good QB's, we'll have a top 5 pick to continue to fill the roster with young talent on rookie contracts. We absolutely need a QB even if we want to run Stidham this year. I think the logical thing to do would be to trade down the pick. Obviously the draft is not a solidified thing so I thought it made sense to draw up a plan of our logic heading into the draft at each potential pick. So here’s my thought process: 12- Trade down if we can get a trade partner in 20-35 range, use earliest pick to get leftover of Nix or Penix OR get Nix right at 12 if we cannot find a trade partner.
