BAY HEAD — The New Jersey Transit Police Department’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), together with state, county and local partners, will conduct a training exercise on Saturday, April 20, at NJ Transit’s Bay Head Yard facility beginning at 8 a.m.
The drill, which will gauge responses to a simulated transportation incident, will take approximately three hours to complete. Residents and customers are advised that they will see an increased presence of police and emergency personnel in the area of Bay Head Yard.

WALL TOWNSHIP — A plan to redevelop several lots on East Fourth Avenue, north of Harry Rash Field off Route 71, was recently introduced by the Wall Township committee.
Currently, about 17 small cottages line both sides of East Fourth Avenue. The plan says that currently, five residential units in the targeted area are occupied. The tenants were given an 18-month notice to quit in April 2023, requiring the units to be vacant by October of this year. The redeveloper is obligated to provide “decent, safe and sanitary” dwellings for the displaced tenants.

Rosemarie Ruck Irving, 96 of Point Pleasant passed away on April 12, 2024 at the Medical Center of Ocean County, Brick Hospital with her devoted son at her side.
She was born and raised in Long Branch, NJ, to the late Joseph and Beatrice (née Torchia) Tetti and resided in Point Pleasant for 70 years. Mom graduated from Long Branch High School, Class of 1945 and was one of ‘The Green Waves’ best. Always a true inspiration to her friends and classmates. She held onto them for a lifetime. Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Kusch Percy passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024, at the age of 84, with her loving friends and family by her side. Kathleen was a lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore. She was born in Newark and grew up in Asbury Park. Kathy raised her family in West Belmar and moved to Toms River in 2004. She was a graduate of Asbury Park High School. She worked her whole life, and was a proud employee of the Department of Defense at Fort Monmouth, from where she retired in 2003.

John Haley Brue, Sr. of Point Pleasant NJ passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 13th.
John was born in 1939, the second of 10 children to John E. and Alberta (Anderson) Brue in NYC. He is predeceased by his beloved Son, Kevin Anderson Brue (2010) and five of his siblings: Arline, Tony, Wayne, Susie and Ellen.
John was an innovative entrepreneur, opening his first company, Media Management (which later became National Data Mart) in the late 1970’s. In 1982 John opened Brue Video on Beaver Dam Road, which many locals still recall with nostalgic fondness.

In Loving Memory of Dolores Anilonis, age 93, passed peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Dolores Neverouck Anilonis was born on July 12, 1930 in New Haven, CT. A daughter of two immigrants from Lithuania, she grew up in Detroit, Michigan with her mother and two sisters. She met her future husband of fifty years, Edward Anilonis, at a Knights of Lithuania convention in Chicago. They married soon after, and moved to his home state of New Jersey, where they raised their four children.

POINT PLEASANT — A portion of Route 88, near The Idle Hour, was closed Sunday night as a single-vehicle crash caused damage to a nearby pole.
On the night of April 14th, around 9:25 p.m., the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls regarding a single-car accident on Route 88 near Barton Avenue.

John Tracy Lane, Jr. of Wall Township — a big man with a bigger heart — passed away on April 12, 2024 at the age of 64 after a brief illness. He departed this life in the same way he spent much of it, holding the hand of his beloved wife of 34 years, Mary Fran.

Jessica Ciriello née Ferreira, 58, died peacefully Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

POINT PLEASANT — The Point Pleasant Borough mayor and council, after many months of deliberation and discussion, have introduced an ordinance that sets new guidelines, rules and regulations regarding the removal and protection of trees in town.
