NJ Supreme Court vacates $23.4M jury award against Valley Hospital

The New Jersey Supreme Court vacated a $24.3 million award to a group of neurosurgeons over their claim that The Valley Hospital was acting in bad faith and didn’t deal fairly when it signed an exclusive agreement with a competing surgical group. In a unanimous opinion issued April 16 in the case of Comprehensive Neurosurgical PC v. The Valley Hospital, the state high court reversed the ruling, saying that the jury was incorrectly instructed by the trial judge. At the international aviation industry’s version of the Academy Awards Wednesday, Newark Liberty International Airport’s new Terminal A received another prestigious award. The terminal was honored at the 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards as the world’s best new airport terminal. Leading global airport evaluation firm Skytrax also gave Terminal A its highest, five-star rating less than a month ago. Monmouth Poll: Wawa, QuickChek or 7-Eleven?

When it comes to New Jersey’s favorite convenience store, Wawa is the go-to place, according to a new poll by Monmouth University. In a survey released April 16, 50% of respondents chose Wawa, putting it far ahead of 7-Eleven (15%), QuickChek (14%) and other c-stores (10%). Wawa – which marked its 60th anniversary this week with free coffee and 60 cent doughnuts – is easily the preferred stop in South Jersey, where it has had a foothold since its earliest days. Following its acquisition of two Class A Short Hills office properties, Columbia Pacific Advisors tapped JLL to secure tenants. The commercial real estate firm announced its appointment as exclusive leasing agent for 101 and 103 John F. Kennedy Parkway April 15. Carteret’s ambitious, $1 billion waterfront redevelopment took another step forward as two key components recently received grant funding. The 10-acre project includes a 1.2 million-square-foot movie production studio complex as well as an intermodal ferry terminal. Macy’s is gearing up to introduce its small-format store concept in New Jersey. The boutique expects to open April 19 at Centerton Square in Mount Laurel. It is the first of two outposts the retailer plans to launch this year in the Garden State.
