FlixBus experiences in the US/West Coast?

Trying to find the least difficult option to travel from CA to OR with my bike, curious if anyone has experience with FlixBus in the US/West coast specifically. How did it feel for safety/theft risk? How easy might it be to convince a driver to stash it in the baggage area? Thanks. submitted by /u/justsailfaster [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Cycling and rock climbing this summer in Europe

Inspired by similar ideas in the past, it would be fun to take basic free climbing gear along (rope, quickdraws, shoes..) on a bike trip and just cycle and climb, visiting climbing areas as they come. Other ideas include climbing some peaks in between cycling. Few years ago I did Grossglocker with a bike in summer (starting from Slovenia) cycled up to Kals, then climbed Grossglocker next day and it was super fun. Here was my bike setup: https://postimg.cc/wR2pR79t I also tried Matterhorn once with a bike approach, but I came to too late in Zermatt (end of September) and Matterhorn was alr ..read more

Surly Disc Trucker & Cranktank 4 fit experience?

Hi folks, Does anyone have any experience with how/if a Cranktank4 fits a Surly Disc Trucker frame? I don’t have the bike yet to check the geometry, but even the Surly website specs don’t answer the seat/down tube angle. I want to know how much clearance there is with the crankset. Thanks! submitted by /u/Bishop_Talleyrand [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Help me decide?

I'm considering among these two options at the moment. My intention is to spend most of the time on the road, with occasional excursions into gravel. My uneducated summary is that the riverside 900 does not have a front suspension (I am not sure if that's a good idea if I'm going to spend most of my time on the road), but does have a front rack for paniers. The seat seems to be of better quality on the riverside 900. I get lost when comparing the drivetrain, pedals, etc. It isn't clear to me which of the two has the lowest gear setting. I tried 99 spokes but the data for the riverside 900 is ..read more

Thinking of getting this bike and as im in a mountainous country, I believe the 2x sword at the front will be better for me. Anyone got this or the 920 (same frame as ive read on other posts here) and managed to change the default to this? In another note how is the fork and bike doing with bad tarmac/gravel? Whats the biggest size tyres i can fit to it? submitted by /u/ThinkHog [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Tubus tara light mount

Wanted to mount a light on my new Tara rack - google found home made remedies and lots of people looking for options (many on here!) but nothing that neat. So I approached a 3d printer who makes and sells lots of mounts for Exposure lights and after sending them some really bad doodles, we came up with this. Designed around an Exposure Trace or Boost, with (pending it raining for testing) a rear sheild to add some protection from spray. It's a bit burlier than expected but pending testing, it can be flipped to hold larger lights. Thought it might be of interest. I've nothing to gain but t ..read more
