I’m not educated on this topic. I noticed how similar the sub-island, Culebra, was to Tenerife. Desert island with desert vegetation type vibe. In PR, we get sand storms from the east. All the way from the Sahara. Can’t help but wonder how much biological matter/data the dust can carry. PR’s vegetion is a dark green free for all. Culebra = a tiny Tenerife. Desert veg, drier soil. Vieques (about an hour south by boat) resemble’s it’s mother. Thick, green, and aggressive. I’m willing to bet, these lifeforms are evolving at rates we never believed they were capable of. Currently going over my atmosphere notes and I found these but I can't remember what they're referring to exactly. They are some kind of winds but not sure which exactly. submitted by /u/Wholesome_Boye [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello everyone! I've recently become interested in meteorology due to the ongoing drought in Barcelona, where I live. I'm specifically eager to understand how cloud formation relates to meteorological fronts and isobars. I would really appreciate any explanations or insights on this topic. Thanks!

Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) Computation in R

Hello everyone. I have a daily rainfall data spanning from 1970 to 2023. I want to compute the SPI in a 360-day timescale. Most of the examples and tutorials I've seen on the Internet use monthly data. I'm not sure how to use daily data for SPI. Would it affect the accuracy of the computation if I averaged the daily into monthly data first? Please enlighten a newbie here :( Thank you very much. submitted by /u/Opening-Outcome8208 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi, I have been working on a binder for a scioly state test, I really enjoy meteo and I have notes and articles from the noaa and the glossary, is there any sources you think I should add- I have notes on each section, here is what we have to study Here’s what I have ~70 Pgs of notes and diagrams noaa jeststream (it’s has all the topics) And meteorological definition Metar code. After a few answers I’ll probably delete the post because of other meteo competitors taking my set up submitted by /u/Select_Income_3394 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
