Needle felting wool to polyester?

Some background: I'm familiar with the properties of wool and the concept of needle felting, but I haven't done very much. I've been asked to make a cloak for someone, and I thought a nice wool cloak would be great, with some personal heraldry on the back. The examples I've seen are cotton appliques glued on, and I just kinda hate the look. So I'm hoping to needle felt the design onto the cloak and hopefully it'll look nice and be a durable integrated part of the fabric! The only problem is that wool suiting is so expensive ? So can I make the cloak out of polyester that looks like wool (the ..read more

Digimon fans may recognize this lil green fella as Betamon. My brother is as big a Digimon fan as I and his favorite one is Betamon, so I wanted to make one for him. Even tho it's not perfect, I'm still really happy with how it turned out and my brother was over the moon when I gave it to him last night, which made me even happier! submitted by /u/Pem_Pire [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'm making the cast of The Office along with little props. I'm going to do everyone who has appeared on the show at least two episodes, along with duplicate characters in a variety of their most iconic costumes. Any suggestions are welcome! Here you have Stanley, Dwight, Phyllis, Michael, Kevin, and Jim and Pam in their wedding clothes. submitted by /u/ionlyofficequote [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Needle felting onto a wet felt coaster (w/cork in the middle)?

Hello! My ADHD brain has directed me to a new craft! ? I watched a YouTube tutorial and wet felt around a round cork disk to make a coaster. My intention was to needle felt an image into one side of the coaster next. But, then I realized I would be poking holes into the cork piece in the middle of the coaster, and maybe that wasn’t a great idea? Has anyone ever done this with success? Thanks! submitted by /u/Embarrassed_Newt_936 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I've seen a few posts about using wool dryer balls as a base for anything that has a round ball shape. Ornaments, pumpkins, snowmen for example. I checked Amazon and there's a wide range of be prices. Are the cheap balls ok or do I need a specific brand? Any tips on using them? submitted by /u/RaiseExtra8378 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

My friend wanted to buy a needle felted corgi butt, I got the urge to do it, so I told her I was gonna make it for her cheaper than the listimg she saw, using some of her own corgi's hair! I think it turned out great! It stayed fluffy because corgi hair is not the best material, but I think it will hold well anyway! submitted by /u/Zaeliums [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Needle felted mending

Hi! I've been needle felting little guys for a while now, and I just noticed a tear in my favourite pair of jeans. I've seen people needle felting in jeans, but mostly cute things in visible spots. The tear I have is in the crotch area, in a high friction zone. The jeans fabric is also starting to get a bit weak around, so sewing a patch might actually destroy the whole thing because it would add tension and weak points at the stitch. I was wondering if I could needle felt a larger zone instead, sandwiching the old fabric between the wool, making it stronger in the process, or if that's doome ..read more
