Last year when I took my skis in for the pre-season check up, I was told they were done. There had been too many base grinds and the edges had been pulled back as many time as possible. In addition, my bindings were so old they could no longer indemnify them. While I was all to happy to research and buy some new skis, disposing of my old ones gave me great angst.

I have spend HOURS looking for places to recycle my skis responsibly. I've emailed manufacturers, been on hold and googled many queries to come up with solutions. In t ..read more

If your husband is anything like mine, shopping for a Father's Day gift is no easy feat. Gifts are just not his thing. It's as simple as that. If he feels like he needs something, he picks it up. And he doesn't expect gifts for any holiday which can make it tricky for his wife, moi, a woman who loves to give gifts and the kids (they get so excited to shop for dad). Since the dad here loves skiing and the mountains, we tend to stick to Father's Day gifts with a ski dad theme.
Our gifts can span the seasons--from hiking in the spring, to surfing, to camping and beyond. We think it's a terr ..read more

Just in time for Mother's Day, we're releasing the results from the inaugural Ski Moms' Happiness Survey. As an organization, we decided that standing on the sidelines waiting for change simply wasn't an option. For over a decade, Momtrends Media has been trying to remove the friction points that keep more families from the slopes. We've build a huge, supportive online community of women helping women to get out and play. Now we're providing the ski industry with the data they need to be agents of change.

In Vermont it is nearly impossible to spend a day outdoors without seeing a Skida accessory. In the winter, you'll spot colorful neckwarmers on the lift or spy a cozy alpine hat on the cross country ski trails. In warmer weather, you'll see the flat brimmed hats at farmer's markets or swimming holes. You'll know it's Skida because of the fun print.

There is some mighty challenging skiing at Alyeska. They have a well-earned reputation for being steep and deep. As a ski mom, I like to balance physical exertion with quality rest and recovery. At most resorts, this means booking a well-earned massage or maybe just soaking in an overcrowded hot tub at the hotel. Alyeska resort in Alaska has invested in a tremendous spa that offers ski moms, ski dads and anyone over 18 the chance to chill out in the forest and take in some therapeutic treatments. It's an incredible facility and I highly recommend you carve out plenty of time to rejuvenate here ..read more
