Tried making the best of the quarantine times and lucky for me, technology nowadays is advanced enough, that we can still create images even when we’re not in the same room. Enter FaceTime shoots. Yeah, you read that right… This is what ‘shooting from home’ looks like nowadays. The idea for the FaceTime Photoshoot I saw there were a few photographers, some of which weren’t even professional, that were doing photoshoots through their iPhones. Of course, I had to give it a try! The trending hashtags were #facetimephotography and #facetimephotochallenge. There were already some models that I’ve be ..read more

Bangkok Proposal Photography

Bangkok is definitely one of the top destinations for surprise proposals! Usually during December and January I get a huge spike in requests for proposal photography. I have shot at rooftop bars, riverside restaurants with majestic sunset views and places with the beautiful Thai temples as backdrops. Octave Sky Bar proposalSometimes it’s quite an effort arriving at the location well before the customer (who you’ve never physically met) and sorting out the ideal shooting position while also informing the waiters and tables around the specific area. But of course, it’s all worth it as the pr ..read more

Wat Hua Lamphong – Coffin Temple

Whenever someone asks me for a suggestion to shoot at a beautiful temple without the hoards of tourists, I immediately blurt out ‘Wat Hua Lamphong’. It’s extremely easy to get to because it sits right on top of the Sam Yan MRT Station, but most taxi drivers in Bangkok will know the name anyway. The cost for foreigners to enter is 40 baht each. The thing with this temple is that it is raised and there is a nice wide staircase leading up to it – great for pictures. From up there you’re able to look around at the skyscrapers and down at the infamous Bangkok traffic below because of its locatio ..read more

It’s always a little bit difficult trying to shoot a celebrity here in Thailand. There’s certainly an abundance of talented photographers scattered throughout Bangkok ready to capture anyone remotely famous. But this time, I was lucky to shoot Miss Nok Usanee or Usanee Wattana if you wanted to be more formal (อุษณีย์ วัฒฐานะ). The young lady happens to be the long-time girlfriend of my ex-business partner – I’ll give you a moment to try and link that all together. A little background on Nok In case you didn’t know, she is a Thai soap opera actress here in Thailand and has been in the bu ..read more

So Valentine’s came around and of course I was rushing around trying to find the perfect dining spot for me and Anita. Luckily I stumbled on a set dinner at a place we’ve both been wanting to try out for a while now but actually forgot about. We definitely have to go back to Karma Kamet aka The Secret Garden and take some awesome photos there. But… let’s rewind a bit. We all know the number one thing that you have to get right on the special day of love. Of course it’s the flowers! Out of the numerous ones I’ve tried, GoGoFlorist have time and time again come through and delivered beautiful ..read more

I go out and shoot a ton of images at time at various locations in Bangkok. Most of the time it’s those sweet honey-mooners or a family with small children that want to capture their magical time here in Thailand. During the peak seasons, I sometimes go to the Grand Palace and surrounding area 2-3 times a week just to go shoot some vacation photography. Needless to say, I had to quickly figure out a way to edit my photos in the most efficient time possible while maintaining the highest of quality. There is a fine line of speeding up workflow and keeping quality control in check. I wanted to ..read more

This Friday November 23rd 2018 is actually the full moon night of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, which is when Loy Krathong festival is celebrated in Bangkok and beyond. The romantic and superstitious event happens on a different day each year, so make sure you check the local calendars before heading out with your cameras. Loy literally translates to ‘float’ while krathong is the actual ‘vessel’ that you make and put offerings on put place in a body of water as part of the celebration. Lumpini Park Has It All

What a view. Right in the middle of the city. Lumpini Park and her 360rai is located right next to the CBD of Bangkok and is very accessible as there is a MRT Station right under it as well as a large parking area if you were to drive there. It is open from 4am all the way to 9pm, with plenty of joggers and cyclists around. There are views to Silom/Sathorn as well as Ratchadamri/Ratchaprasong areas. It is a great place to get away from the busy streets around there and just a few steps inside the gates and you’re already transported to a more serene environment. I got the privilege to photogra ..read more

What to see and do at Wat Pho

There are many temples scattered throughout Thailand, and Bangkok for that matter. But one that cannot be missed on your visit to The Land of Smiles is Wat Phra Chetuphon aka Wat Pho. It is located right next to the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, but closes at a later time at 5pm, so what visitors usually do is visit the other two and then walk on over to The Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Entrance to the temple is 200 baht for foreigners and locals like me get in free. Just make sure you are wearing respectable clothing that covers shoulders, knees and closed shoes would be great, but you a ..read more
